Module 6 Assignment
Maximum of 1 page for Q1-Q4 below. 1. Question (restate homework question in its entirety) State one factor that is most needed to win the voice war. Who is best positioned to win the voice war? Explain. 2. Our Response Most needed factor to win the voice war is the intuitiveness and accuracy of AI i.e its ability to customize user experience and to continuously learn, adapt and respond to user's needs. Google is best positioned to win this war because of its heavy investment in the AI in order to realize its vision to move into an AI-first world. Moreover, due to its large user reachability in terms of mobile hardware base and its search engine, it has access to over 20 years of search data and more than 50 million voice samples, which can ultimately enhance machine learning. Word Count (100 words max): 100 3. Main point and strongest/most relevant evidence from case study" " We think of it as a conversational assistant. We want users to have an ongoing two-way dialogue with google. We want to help you get things done in the real world and we want to do it for you, understanding your context, giving you control of it. We think of building each user their own individual Google." (Page 2) Google has been actively working on achieving this goal by developing state of the art AI technology and machine learning capabilities. They are building their own Tensor processing units and focusing specifically on neural network machine learning. For example, recently launched Google Duplex helps connect users and businesses (without online booking systems), making appointments/reservations to hair salons or restaurants etc., on behalf of users by mimicking by real human conversations. 4. Main point and strongest/most relevant evidence from accompanying article "Part game theorist and part chess master, great strategists "look forward" to determine where they want their companies to be at a given point in the future and then "reason back" to identify moves that will take the business there" (Page 22) Google has a vision of moving from a mobile-first world to an AI-first world in order to anticipate customer needs. In order to achieve this, it is focusing on enhancing its AI capabilities by leveraging its search engine data and machine learning. This move is essential for Google, as in a fast-moving industry of intelligent assistants, the difference between being a half step ahead and keeping pace with the field can be the difference between greatness and failure.

Abstract A central challenge for tutorial dialogue systems is selecting an appropriate move given the dialogue context. Corpus-based approaches to creating tutorial dialogue management models may facilitate more flexible and rapid development of tutorial dialogue systems and may increase the effectiveness of these systems by allowing data-driven adaptation to learning contexts and to individual learners.
Abstract In this paper, we present a corrected and error-tagged corpus of essays written by non-native speakers of English. The corpus contains 63000 words and includes data by learners of English of nine first language backgrounds. The annotation was performed at the sentence level and involved correcting all errors in the sentence. Error classification includes mistakes in preposition and article usage, errors in grammar, word order, and word choice.

This paper introduces VIP, an R&D project that explores the impact and feasibility of using Human Language Technology (HLT) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) for interpreting training, practice and research. This project aims at filling the gap in and addressing the pressing need for technology in general for interpreters, which is reported to be scarce. Although most interpreters are unaware of interpreting technologies or are reluctant to use them, there are some tools and resources already available, mainly computer-assisted interpreting (CAI) tools. VIP is working on the development of technology and cutting-edge research with the potential to revolutionise the interpreting industry by lowering costs for interpreter training, fostering an online community which shares, generates and cultivates interpreting resources; and providing an efficient interpreter workbench tool (computer assisted interpreting software).
