My School Library essay is beneficial to students of classes 7, 8, 9, and 10.

We come into the world as infants. At that stage, we know very little about the world. Kids are all curious and want to know more about things happening around them. Kids love stories of adventures, challenging voyages, mysteries, horror stories, fiction, and fairy tales. They love to explore.

I was introduced to the beautiful world of books by my parents. Every night, my mother or my father read me stories from a storybook before I went to bed. Books were my first friends. When nobody was around me, I spent my time reading them when I had nothing to do. Books opened magical doors that led me to magical places.

When I started primary school, I was awestruck when we had our first library class. I couldn’t believe that so many books were kept in one room and were available for us to borrow and read. Every week I used to borrow two books- one fiction and another reference book. After finishing them, I restlessly waited for our next library class. I loved the dignity of the place. To be able to read anything in such a quiet, calm, and peaceful environment was like a taste of heaven.

Miss Librarian was a kind lady. She gave us recommendations on books that we would love to read. I loved the Geronimo Stilton series. The Library also had a section dedicated to biographies of notable persons. I loved to learn about the life of Mahatma Gandhi.

My school library helped me foster my love for books. Science books also interested me. I came to know about the solar system, the galaxies, stars, and planets. I also loved reading about dinosaurs and monkey-men and the process of evolution. Enid Blyton’s stories were my favorite.

When I was promoted to Class Five, we got a new librarian. I developed my interest in poetry and classic novels. Ruskin Bond and Keki.N Daruwalla were my favorite Indian authors. I loved Robert Frost and his poem Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening. Throughout my school life, the Library has been my favorite room. In free periods, lunch breaks, and after-school, I visited the Library and read my books in a calm and peaceful environment. My school library is like a temple-a holy place from where anything can be known, and anything can be learned.

Students cannot possibly buy and have all the books they need. The Library solves this problem. It has all kinds of books- of all genres and themes. It also has various reference books that help me understand my academics better. The hushed environment stimulates higher levels of concentration. To become a better person and change the world, the library serves as the best training ground and starting point.

The name of my school is Bidya Bhaban High School. There is a garden in front of my school. There is a playground just before it. It is an open space for games and sports and a lot of fun. We play on the playground when we get time for that.

There are twenty-two classrooms, a library, a laboratory, a teachers’ room and the Headmaster’s room in the school. Our respected Headmaster is Debashish Ganguly. • The Republic of Adygea

Adygea is a Russian federal subject found in the south-western part of Russia in the northern part of Caucasus region. It is part of the Southern federal District. It stretches from the Kuban River in the south to the Caucasus foothills to cover an area of 2,900 square miles, and it is the 5th smallest republic in the Russian Federation. The official languages in the Republic are the Adyghe and the Russian languages. The largest city in the Republic is Maykop which is also Adygea’s capital, and it is home to about one-third of the total population in the Republic.

Maykop is the largest and the capital of Adygea Republic in the Federation of Russia . It is found on the bank of Baleya River which is a tributary of the Kuban River. The city shares its boundaries with the District of Maykopsky to the south and east, the district of Giagnsky to the north, and the District of Belorechensky in the Krai of Krasnodar to the west. The population of the city has been almost constant, and in 1989 it had a population of 148,608 people, in 2000 it had a population of 156,931 people, while in 2010 population of the city had dropped to 144,249 people.

History of Maykop

Maykop is named after the Maykop culture of the early Bronze Age, and this was after the discovery of a royal burial site in 1897. In 1857, the Russian military Fort was built in the area where the city is located. Oil deposits and natural gas were discovered near the City of Maykop in 1911, and in 1936 Maykop, together with the surrounding area, were merged to create the autonomous oblast of Adyghe and effectively becoming the administrative center for the autonomous region. In 1942, the city of Maykop was occupied by the unified army of Nazi Germany (Wehrmacht) without any resistance because of the operation of Germany ’s Brandenburger commandos. However, in January 1943 the city was liberated by the Red Army. The city has been the capital of Adygea republic in the Russian Federation since 1991.

Economic Activities

The foothills of Caucasus Mountains are covered with deciduous forests while other parts of the Republic is mainly plains which has rich soils and agriculture is the main activity and crops such as wheat, corn, hemp, sunflowers, tobacco, potatoes, vegetables, and melons a widely cultivated. There is a local specialty of a flower which is cultivated for its scent that belongs to the lavender and the Crimean Rose. Floodplains along the Kuban River are marshy, and there are approximately 8,000 hectares which have been claimed for market gardening. The main industry in the Republic is primarily processing of farm products, and there are oil and natural gas which is extracted near the Maykop. Similarly, timber is another major product particularly in the Southern part of the Republic.

It was during a free hour that our teacher took us to the school library. Climbing up the stairs, we reached a huge doorway, behind which were the racks of books and a large study hall. There was an unusual silence in the library as everyone was immersed in their books, and later, I became aware that nobody was allowed to talk or make noise in the library as people came here to read books, periodicals or academic papers peacefully. It was easy for me to find storybooks in different sections for young kids.

I was glad that our teacher took us to the library on that day. I was able to cultivate a new habit of reading because of my school library. Since then, I have visited the school library daily to read and get general information.

Maykop – the view from above

Maykop (“the valley of apple trees” from the Adyghe language) is a city with a population of about 139 thousand people located in the south of European Russia, the capital of the Republic of Adygea .

The main urban development of Maykop was carried out in Soviet times and it was done quite systematically. The streets of the city for the most part are strictly perpendicular to each other, its entire center consists of identical city blocks. Photos by: Slava Stepanov .

The main mosque of Maykop. Built in 1999-2000, it is also the seat of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Republic of Adygea and Krasnodar Krai .

Monument “Unity and Harmony” – a memorial complex made in the form of an Adyghe hearth, which since ancient times has been considered the material and spiritual basis of the home and family. Local people call it just “hearth”. It is dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Caucasian War (1817-1864) and is a symbol of unity of all residents of the republic.

Monument “Forever with Russia” made in the form of two warriors who personify Adygea and Russia. It was opened in honor of the 400th anniversary of the union of Adygea and Russia.
