College lost BTEC coursework (UK), grade was PP, rather than DDD (Equivalent of 2 C's at A level rather than 3 A's). 7 years on what do I do? Evidence in writing.

As mentioned above, the college I went to lost my coursework, and I have written evidence that it happened and I should have achieved top grades. Thus I didn't get to go to my main choice university and went to a low tier one instead. I got a decent degree (2.1, International Business), but I'm no where near the career I want to be in. I know the lower tier Uni is the problem as it's been mentioned before (Worded 'Non - target) - Is there any advice on the situation?

Breaking news, firestorm erupts over plan to allow golf courses, hotels to be built on multiple florida parks.

A view of the scrub forest from Hobe Mountain at Jonathan Dickinson State Park (JDSP) on Wednesday morning, Aug. 28, 2024, in Martin County.

A proposed initiative that would allow for limited development on at least nine Florida State Parks has caused an outcry, with residents protesting from coast to coast in the state in an effort to protect the sanctity of the state’s natural areas.

Under the “Great Outdoors Initiative,” parks in Panama City Beach, Santa Rosa Beach, Dania Beach, Thonotosassa, Hobe Sound, Dunedin, North Miami Beach and St. Augustine would be opened to limited development, which could include pickleball courts, golf courses, and lodging facilities.

“The initiative will work to expand public access, increase outdoor activities, and provide new lodging options across Florida’s state parks-reinforcing the state’s dedication to conservation, the outdoor recreation economy, and a high quality of life for Floridians,” FDEP staff stated in a news release during the plan’s rollout.

But outcry spread across all walks of life, with thousands picketing outside parks and joining petitions to derail the state’s plan, which proponents said would increase access, recreation and lodging across the Sunshine State.

“Over my dead body will there be a golf course at Jonathan Dickinson State Park,” United States Representative Brian Mast said in a statement after the news about the initiative went viral, encouraging his constituents to sign petitions and join one of the many groups that have developed in opposition.

After the backlash,  the Florida Department of Environmental Protection said  that there was a lot of confusion and cautioned residents to withhold judgment until attending a public hearing.

A large crowd of people gather at the front entrance of Jonathan Dickinson State Park to protest against the proposed golf courses Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, in Martin County. Florida

However, the planned meetings were ultimately postponed by the agency, leaving residents wondering what the FDEP might do next.

“It’s simple. I will not support any part of this proposal for Anastasia State Park, which is located within the city limits of St. Augustine,” Nancy Sikes-Kline, mayor of St. Augustine, posted to social media upon hearing news of the plan.

The FDEP did not publicly state how it chose the nine out of the 175 parks it oversees for potential recreational and lodging development.

The agency estimated that state parks contribute around $3.6 billion to the economy and that their footprint has significantly increased under Governor Ron DeSantis’ administration.

U.S.  National Park  sites such as Everglades National Park, the Dry Tortugas, and Castillo de San Marcos National Monument would not be impacted under the proposal.

If the agency advances development plans at any of its parks, it could face lengthy legal battles by local jurisdictions and environmental groups.

According to the FDEP, Florida’s state parks attract approximately 30 million visitors annually – more than Universal Orlando Resort but fewer than the much larger Disney World properties.

Russia Pushes Forward in Ukraine’s East as Kursk Offensive Slows

The Ukrainians must defend a critical front in their country’s east, including the city of Pokrovsk, while trying to press forward in western Russia.

A woman with a stick is helped down the steps of a house with plastic-covered windows by a young man in a black helmet.

Reporting from Kyiv, Ukraine

More than two weeks into its surprise offensive in western Russia, Ukraine’s advance has slowed, with its troops making only marginal gains around territory they already control.

But more than 200 miles to the southeast, another offensive is gaining momentum: Russia’s drive toward Pokrovsk, a stronghold in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region. In recent days, Moscow’s troops have seized at least three settlements and reached the outskirts of a town along a railroad to Pokrovsk, a logistics hub for the Ukrainian Army in the region.

The Russian advance has put the Ukrainians in the precarious position of defending one critical front while attempting to press forward on another, all with limited troop numbers and weaponry. President Volodymyr Zelensky said this week that Ukraine was working on boosting its forces in the east with more men and weapons to resist the Russian advance.

Here’s a look at the overall situation on the battlefield.

Russia pushes toward Pokrovsk

This week, Russian forces have captured three more villages near Pokrovsk, according to DeepState , an analytical group with close ties to the Ukrainian Army, expanding their hold on the area. Moscow’s troops are now about eight miles from the center of Pokrovsk .

“They’re now within artillery range of the city,” Michael Kofman, a senior fellow in the Russia and Eurasia program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, told the military podcast War on the Rocks on Wednesday.

Pokrovsk, a city of more than 40,000 inhabitants, is a transit hub for Ukrainian forces in the east. It sits on a key road, Highway T054, linking several cities that form a defensive arc protecting the part of the Donetsk region that is still held by Ukraine.
