How to apply for a PhD

Registration, and re-registration, for a doctorate at the University of Aix-Marseille is a two-step process:

STEP 1: PEDAGOGICAL REGISTRATION

At the doctoral school within a research unit under the responsibility and control of a thesis director dressed to direct research and possibly a co-director who shares with the thesis director the scientific responsibility of supervision.

• enter the requested information and add the expected documents
• click on "apply for registration".

The thesis director receives an automatic e-mail asking him/her to examine the application and give his/her opinion.

The director of the research unit receives an automatic e-mail asking him to examine the application and give his opinion.

The doctoral school's assistant checks the completeness of the information and attachments.

The director of the doctoral school examines the application and proposes registration.

This entire circuit is completely dematerialized via ADUM.

As a doctoral student, you have visibility on the progress of your application at all times.

STEP 2: ADMINISTRATIVE REGISTRATION

The administrative registration is done at the school. It is compulsory and allows the delivery of the diploma at the end of the course.

Either the doctoral student has already been registered at AMU and goes through his ENT with the identifiers "@etu.univ-amu.fr" or he connects to the page https://pagesinterscol.univ-amu.fr/prod/acc_iaprimo.php .

AMU PhD Admission 2023-24 Eligibility Criteria

• A 1-year/2-semester master’s degree Programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree Programme or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree Programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree Programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed. OR
• M.Phil. Programme with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed. OR
• A 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree Programme (with research) with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed.
• Provided that the relevant subject(s) for each disciplines shall be as approved by the Academic Council from time to time on the recommendation of the concerned Board of Studies (hereinafter referred to as BoS).
• Provided that a candidate, working in an externally funded research project in the University, who is otherwise eligible, will be eligible to apply for admission to Ph.D. programme while continuing to work in the project subject to justification by the Principal Investigator of the project that the subject of the project and the proposed Ph.D. topic of the candidate are in consonance.
• Provided that an Assistant Professor (Contractual) and Guest Teacher of this University will be eligible to apply for admission to part-time Ph.D. programme if s/he fulfils the eligibility criteria and further requirements for eligibility that may be laid down by the Academic Council from time to time.
• Provided that a permanent School teacher or Nursing Tutor of this University with five years of regular service will be eligible to apply for admission to part-time Ph.D. programme if s/he fulfils the eligibility criteria and further requirements for eligibility that may be laid down by the Academic Council from time to time. 
• Provided that a permanent Non-teaching employee of this University with five years of regular service will be eligible to apply for admission to part-time Ph.D. Programme if s/he fulfills the eligibility criteria and further requirements for eligibility that may be laid down by the Academic Council from time to time.
• A relaxation of 5% of marks, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, in the qualifying examination may be allowed for Differently Abled Candidates.

AMU PhD Admission 2023-24 Application Process

• Candidates can apply online only through the official website https://www.amucontrollerexams.com/
• Sign Up using your Email and password. Your Dashboard will be available to you for filling the form.
• Candidate eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme in more than one Faculty of the University can apply for the same but such a candidate will have to fill separate Application Form for each Faculty. However, She/he can apply only in a maximum of two disciplines within the same Faculty.
• Scanned copy of colored Photo with white background, Signature, and Thumb Impression (Left Hand Thumb Impression for every candidate) of the Candidate in JPG format ONLY.
• Email address & Mobile number.
• Online Banking details/Debit Card/Credit Card.
• Details of qualifying examination 

Application Fee

Selection Process

• Selection of candidates in Ph.D. programme will be made through an admission test comprising (a) a written test and (b) a presentation-cum-interview (for those who qualify the written test and are short-listed for presentation-cum-interview); subject to exemptions.
• Candidates who qualify for fellowship/ scholarship in UGC-NET/UGC-CSIR NET / GATE / CEED and similar National level tests with a score more than or equal to the qualifying marks of General Category, valid at the time of admission, are exempted from appearing in the written test. However, they must appear in the presentation-cum- interview in person to become eligible for selection.
• Foreign nationals are exempted from appearing in the written test. However, they shall be required to appear in the presentation-cum-interview in person or through video conferencing.

AMU PhD Entrance Test Details

• The test paper, carrying 80 marks shall be of 90 minutes duration.
• Section A: Research Aptitude / Methodology It shall be of 45 minutes’ duration. There shall be 40 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of 1 mark each on Research Aptitude / Methodology.
• Section B: Subject Specific It shall be of 45 minutes’ duration. There shall be 40 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of 1 mark each covering equitably, as far as possible, all topics of syllabus.
• There shall be no negative marking.
• Candidates should secure 50% or more marks in the Written Test to be eligible for Presentation-cum-Interview. However, a relaxation of 5% marks shall be allowed for Differently Abled candidates, and they should secure a minimum of 45% marks in the Written Test to be eligible for Presentation-cum-Interview.

Presentation-cum-Interview

• All candidates who qualify the written test and those who were exempted shall be called for Presentation-cum-Interview. In addition, Foreign national candidates shall also be required to appear for Presentation-cum Interview.
• Presentation-cum-Interview shall be of 20 marks and will normally be held within 1-2 weeks following the declaration of the list of candidates short-listed.

Offer of Admission

• Based on combined merit of marks in written test and Presentation–cum-Interview for each area of specialization, candidates shall be selected for admission equal to number of vacancies notified in the area concerned, strictly on merit as per admission policy of the University and notified under the signatures of the Dean and Chairman concerned after approval of the Vice-Chancellor. However, foreign nationals shall be considered for admission only on the basis of their merit in the qualifying examination and Presentation–cum-Interview, subject to the approval by the BoS of the synopsis of the proposed research work specified by them in their Application Form.
• Provisional admission shall be offered to the selected candidates and they shall be asked to join within a period of one month from the date of the offer. Under exceptional circumstances, an additional one-month period may be given by the Vice Chancellor to the selected candidates to join the programme. However, foreign nationals shall be allowed to complete the admission within a period of six months from the date of the offer made to them, subject to the candidate acquiring a research visa to pursue the Ph.D. programme.

AMU Admission 2024 is ongoing for UG, PG, PG Diploma, and Certificate programs. The latest admission updates about the university are listed below:

• Admissions have closed for PhD, Pre-Tib, BUMS, MBBS, BDS, MD, MS, MDS, , PG Diploma, Super Speciality Courses (F/o Medicine, Unani Medicine), BA BEd, BSc BEd, courses offered through CUET, and for categories like ‘Outstanding Sportperson Category’, ‘Outstanding Debater’, ‘Foreign Nationals’, ‘NRI Category’ and ‘Talent Category’
• Admission test for PhD under Visvesvaraya Scheme for Engineering & Technology and Science fields will be conducted on Sept 1, 2024. While Presentation-cum-interview will be conducted on Sept 2, 2024.
• The counselling-cum-admission schedule for BA, BSc and BVoc courses offered through CUET has been released. The  2 nd Firm List will be out by Sept 1, 2024. Candidates selected for round 2 can accept the admission by Sept 3, 2024. 
• Furthermore, the last date to register for round 2 of counselling-cum-admission under the ‘NRI/FN’ category is Aug 30, 2024 and the 2 nd Firm List will be out by Sept 4, 2024. Selected students can accept the admission by Sept 6, 2024. 
• AMU PhD admission 2024 is open for Electronics and IT Phase-2 under the Visvesvaraya Scheme. The entrance test for the course will be conducted on Sept 1, 2024 and the admit cards are available from Aug 26, 2024. Interviews of the registered candidates will be held on Sept 2 and the final results will be declared on Sept 5, 2024.
• Additionally, the last date to register for counselling-cum-admission round-2 under the ‘Outstanding Sportsperson’ category is Aug 31, 2024 and the 2 nd Firm List will be out by Sept 4, 2024. Selected students can accept the admission by Sept 5, 2024. 
• Admission to Masters in Public Health (MPH) under a self-financing scheme is open. The last date to apply is Aug 31, 2024 with a processing fee of INR 1500. Candidates can also apply till Sept 7, 2024, but a late fee must be paid. 
• Candidates selected for admission to MBBS and BDS at AMU through NEET UG Counselling 2024 must register online on the Counselling Portal of the university @ counselling.amuonline.ac.in and should upload the required documents and pay the fee accordingly. 
• In NIRF 2024, AMU is ranked 3 rd  out of 44 in India in the ‘Overall’ category.

AMU offers over 300 courses at UG, PG, and Doctorate levels. Admissions to these courses are based on the entrance exam conducted by AMU. The AMU admission process begins in the month of February every year. Applications for AMU courses can be done online through oaps.amuonline.ac.in. AMU offers UG courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, Engineering, Law, Medicine, Etc. Admissions to AMU UG courses are based on the Admission/Departmental tests conducted by AMU. However, Admissions to several BA (Hons.), BSc.(Hons.), and BVoc. programs are done on the basis of CUET UG exam scores and counseling. For AMU UG medical courses NEET UG scores are considered during counseling. The basic eligibility criteria for admission is to complete 10+2 from a recognised board of education. The course wise eligibility and selection criteria is tabulated below: 

AMU offers PG programs in the discipline of Arts, Science, Commerce, Engineering, Law, Medicine, Etc. Admissions to AMU UG courses are based on the Admission/Departmental tests conducted by AMU. However, admissions to PG medical courses are based on NEET PG exam scores followed by counseling. The basic eligibility criteria for admission is a bachelor's degree from a recognised university or institute. AMU also offers Ph.D. in various disciplines at Doctorate level. Ph.D. admissions are generally conducted in the month of August every year. Admission is granted on the basis of Written Test followed by Presentation/ Interview. The duly-filled application form is required to be submitted to the Office of Controller of Examination, AMU on or before the last date of application. 

Note: NET/ JRF/ GATE/ CSIR/ DBT/ ICAR qualified candidates will be exempted from the Entrance Test but they need to appear in The Presentation cum Interview round.

Aligarh Muslim University follows a common application Process for all the courses offered at UG and PG level. Application form can be filled online by following the below-listed steps:

• Visit the University website www.amucontrollerexams.com.
• Candidate should then register online and provide his / her correct and functional email because the username and password etc. will be sent on this email.
• Candidates should register only once for applying to the multiple courses. 
• After Registering candidate should login using his/her username and password. Dashboard of the candidate will be available to him/her for filling the form. 
• The candidate should fill his/her Profile carefully. Click on Save option.
• After saving the Profile, the candidate will be asked to review and confirm that the particulars entered are correct. 
• Candidate will not be able to Edit/Update his/her Profile after confirmation. If a candidate finds any mistake in his/her Profile after confirmation, then he/she will have to re-register with different Username and Password to complete all the entries afresh.
• Candidates should fill details of his/her educational qualifications by providing the name of all examinations passed, including qualifying examination, year of passing, Examination Roll No., University/Board from where passed, and the percentage/CGPA obtained. 
• Upload the important Documents that are required for Admission along with thumb impressions and coloured photographs.
• Submit the Application fee through online mode only. The admission fee is not accepted in offline mode. 

• The Application Form is submitted electronically the moment the candidate makes the payment of the processing charges and payment is successful. 
• Candidates must take the printout of the Application form and keep it for future reference.

Ques. Do I have to register multiple times to apply for different courses at AMU?

Ans. No, you don’t have to register yourself multiple times. Only Single Registration is sufficient for a candidate to apply for the multiple courses at AMU.

Ques. What are the required formats required while filling up the application form at AMU?

Ans. As per the AMU guidelines, the format of a scanned copy of a colored Photo with white background, Signature, and Thumb Impression (Left Hand Thumb Impression) must be in JPG/JPEG format only. The file size of each should be between 20KB to 100KB

Ques. What factors can lead to the rejection of an application form of AMU? 

Ans. The application of AMU may be rejected due to the following factors:

• The candidate has submitted an incomplete application form.
• Not submitted the prescribed form.
• Not paying the application form fee.
• Submission of application form after the last date.

Ques. Can a student pursue two regular degrees at one time from AMU?

Ans. No, AMU does not allow two regular degree programs at the same time. However, a student can pursue two programs simultaneously through distance mode or combination of distance and regular modes from the same or different Universities / Institutions in various combinations like : 

• One degree and one Diploma / PG Diploma / Certificate course
• One Post Graduate Diploma and One Diploma / Certificate course
• One Diploma and one Certificate course

Ques. Does AMU provide any compensation in fee to the students with any Pwd (Persons with Disability)?

Ans. The candidates with a disability will be exempted by AMU from the payment of the following Fee / Charges:

Ques. What is the maximum age limit for a candidate to apply for any UG course at AMU?

Ans. As per AMU guidelines, a candidate for more than 24 years as of 01st July in the year of admission is not allowed to apply for any UG course.

Ques. Does AMU provide any hostel facility?

Ans. Yes, hostel facilities are provided to students at AMU on a first-come-first-serve basis. There are 19 Halls of Residence and one Non-Resident Students Centre (NRSC). 13 Halls of Residence for boys and 6 for Girls.

Ques. Does AMU charge any additional fee for professional courses?

Ans. All professional courses at AMU are self-financed. The admitted students are required to pay a self-finance fee of Rs. 20,000 per year in two installments: Rs. 10,000 at the time of completion of admission in next/second year (as applicable) and Rs. 10,000 in January after continuation of admission in next/second year.

Brief story of life in AKTC AMU!

• I liked the faculty they all have great expertise in their respective fields and also the overall facilities my college provides

As we get our college through ayush councelling procedure and in that I listed three colleges Ajmal Khan tibbya college Aligarh Muslim University (my current college) being on top and as my rank was quite good so I was very sure of getting it so that's why I didn't faced any rejection kind of thing from any other college The admission process is quite easy you just have to bring your allotment letter do some formalities fill the required fee and there you are!!

U because of its affordability location and one of the most renowned university admission in B.Tech is quiet simple You have to crack AMUEEE exam exam is of 150 questions (pcm) 1 mark each question and -0.25 for each wrong opted Around 20000 -25000 students write this exam and 500 are the total seats Eligible 65% in 12th (pcm) Or equivalent diploma One can expect his)/her entry in college if score is above 40 for an external student There are various categories in amu like child of employee , child of alumini, internal candidate which for sure get edge over other students

Aligarh Muslim University: Pros and Cons

• The University boasts a 2500 acre plot with many amenities and departments all included. The extensive lawns and picturesque spots are a visual beauty. The buildings are also of exceptional architecture.
• The University has a peaceful environment overall. It facilitates research and reading.
• The conservative nature of the people here, it brings alot of restrictions to dressing and get going.
• Lack of proper administration in the hostel allotments. Hostel allotments are a hassle and require alot of political power. Proper allotment may take two years.

The eligibility of the course is through AMU entrance examination. The cut off is at 50% mark. The application form, fees and dates are updated on the official website of AMU. There is reservation for OBC, SC/ST, Muslim, Distance, Specially Abled etc. The entrance exams take place usually in June/July and the syllabus is basic general knowledge, quantitative analysis, English, Indo-Islamic GK.

Foreign language

• Classes are not regular in my college and there are many holidays

I have got my admission through entrance exam. The paper consists of 4 section in which there is english, indo islamic, gk, current affairs. The paper consists of 100 marks out of which i have gained 55 marks and i have attempted 71 question because there is negative marking

• Aligarh Muslim University is a central university and it has lot of departments.
• The Seniors are very helpful in every kind of help.
• Admission process is soo long in previous years.
• In the University Hostel allotment process Is too long in previous years.

Eligibility of the MBA FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT course is bachelor with minimum 55%. The application form is online on amu site (amucontroller or amu.in). No reservation facility available for this course. The timing of the entrance examination is May, and the level of the entrence paper is hard, and frequency is 2 hours for 100 objective questions in which includes 25 mathematics, 20 general studies, 25 english, 20 reasoning and 10 data interpretation. Admission process is good, but I suggest make it's less time taken process.

An overview of Aligarh Muslim University (MSc Agricultural Microbiology)

• Overall experience was good in this university. As the campus is huge and offers a wide range of courses with highly qualified faculty
• The best thing about Aligarh Muslim University is that it still follows its traditions and culture and also moves with a touch of modernization.
• There is nothing about this university that I disliked. However there are certain things that cannot be ignored.

The eligibility to get admission in Msc Agricultural Microbiology is to have a graduation degree in Life sciences or related courses with a minimum of 60% marks. The applications forms can be filled out online on the official website of university before the deadline, as they announce the dates already. Depending upon the course, the application fees of the forms varies. For MSc Agricultural Microbiology it is 500 Rs. The entrance exam dates are also announced after the form completion. And the entrance results are uploaded on the official website of university in the admissions section. They release different lists of results, for example : Confirmed list, Waitlist. If anyone withdraws their candidature from the admission, their seat is given to the top candidates in waitlist . After paying the total admission fees online you can secure your seat.The improvement is needed in the area of notices. They should email those who have cracked the entrance and should tell the process further.

Suppose you are applying graduation, you should've qualified your 12th standard or equivalent degree with atleast 55% aggregate marks. Cut off marks are generally different for girls and boys as they do not study in the same campus because AMU is not co-ed till graduation. The cut off scheme basically depends on the difficulty level of the entrance which can lie between 50-60%.

Fees & Scholarships : Aligarh Muslim University, [AMU] Aligarh Fee Structure. The course fee is about INR 8675 per semester. AMU is the cheapest university in my opinion. The quality of education I receive in AMU is undescribably best. We have very qualified professors who give their best in teaching us. Besides, there are hundreds of scholarships that are offered to students. Almost 95% of the students got scholarships.

Placements & Internships : Many MNCs hire graduates and postgraduates with a good amount of salary. Management, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Finance roles are offered to the students. The salary package offered usually ranges between INR 5-6 Lakhs per annum.

Academics & Faculty : The schedule of college is from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Each class is of 50 minutes and there are 4-6 classes daily, 6 days a week. Projects and assignments are given on a regular basis to ensure one is connected with their classmates. Every faculty has the best professors who would help you throughout your graduation. They are very friendly, their method of teaching is very good and you will enjoy the classes. My overall experience is excellent. You will gain knowledge in your area of study and get a job through campus placement.

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : There are 20 campus hostels; 14 for boys and 6 for girls. Hostel facilities include dining charges, full hostel accommodation, laundry, various special dinner, and electricity. Food is of good quality, cooked with proper hygiene. The infrastructure is excellent and campuses are very beautiful and are spread in the whole city. Libraries are air-conditioned

Clubs & Associations : There are many different clubs for students like drama, music (all forms), dance, debate, cultural, literature, art & craft, horse riding, sports, etc. Each kind of fest is organized on a very large level and prizes are given. From time to time workshops are organized to enhance the skills of students. AMU life is fun and full of adventures. It gives you the best platform, so it depends on how much you can extract.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : First I have to give the test then got the result and I was selected in my course so I got admission here in Aligarh Muslim University.

Fees & Scholarships : 25000 is the college fee and scholarships are available 

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : There are 7 to 10 hostels for boys year and hostel fee is nearly 20000 and I am also PG outside and my fee is here 8000 rupees and the food quality is not good but it causes 4000 rupees quality of classrooms labs laboratories dining hall is 5 and another infrastructure is excellent

Clubs & Associations : Jaipur all types of festivals like management technical supports and cultural activities are here the college life is good.

AMU Selection Criteria for UG Courses

• The Departmental Admission Test (conducted in Aligarh) and the Entrance Exam are the two methods used for admission to AMU (conducted at designated centers).
• Candidates' performance on the Admission Test (All India Level) administered by AMU determines their eligibility for admission to B.Sc. (H), BA (H), B.Com. (H), and BSW.
• Admissions to  AMU Courses such as B.Sc. (H) in Agricultural Science, B.A. (H) in Shia, Sunni, or Foreign Languages, BRIT, B.P.Ed, and B.Li.Sc. are made through the admissions test that the relevant AMU department administers.
• The entrance exams for BA-LL.B. and B.Ed. are only held in Aligarh, Kozhikode, and Kolkata.
• While BE (Evening) admissions are made based on Written Tests, B.Tech./B.Arch. admissions are made based on the AMUEEE, which is held at various locations.
• To be admitted to MBBS, BDS, and BUMS, you must have a valid NEET score.

• The entrance exams for BA-LL.B. and B.Ed., and MBA are only held in Aligarh, Kozhikode, and Kolkata.
• Admission tests for MCA, M.Sc., MA, M.Ed., M.F.A., M.Li.Sc., M.P.Ed., MIRM, MFA, and MHRM are administered by the relevant AMU departments.
• Candidates who have completed GATE can apply for the M.Tech programme. AMU administers its own Departmental Admission Test for any open seats.
• A valid NEET PG or NEET MDS score is required for admission to the MD/MS or MDS programmes.
• To grant admission to the Ph.D. programme, AMU administers a Written Test and then conducts an Interview.
• Candidates can find the online application form for all the PG courses available on the official website of AMU, Controller Exam.

Candidates can apply for admission to Aligarh Muslim University in online mode only. The AMU Admission Form 2024 cannot be accepted in any other mode. A candidate must submit only one application for each course of study. To apply for admission in one of the popular AMU programmes, follow the steps outlined below:

• Visit the AMU Admission portal or the University's website at www.amucontrollerexams.com for more information.
• The candidate should then register online and provide a valid and functional email address, as the username and password, among other things, will be sent to this address.
• Candidates should only register once to apply to multiple courses.
• After registering, the candidate must log in with his or her username and password. The candidate's dashboard will be available for filling out the form.
• The candidate should carefully complete his or her Profile. After saving the Profile, the candidate will be asked to review and confirm the information entered.
• Candidate should provide information about his or her educational qualifications, including the names of all examinations passed, including qualifying examinations, year of passing, Examination Roll No., University/Board from which passed, and percentage/CGPA obtained.
• Upload the necessary documents for admission, as well as a thumb impression and coloured photographs.
• The application fee must be paid online only. The AMU Admission fee cannot be paid offline.
• When the candidate pays the processing fees and the payment is successful, the Application Form is submitted electronically.
• Candidates must print the Application form and save it for future reference. 

Note: After selecting confirmation, the candidate will not be able to edit or update his or her profile. If a candidate discovers an error in his or her Profile after confirmation, he or she needs to re-register with a new Username and Password to complete all entries from scratch.

Documents Required for AMU Admission 2024

Here are some of the important documents required for AMU admissions:

• A scanned copy of the candidate's birth certificate/high school diploma.
• Photographs in passport size. 
• Scanned copy of qualifying examination marks sheet/grade sheet.
• Scanned copies of documents supporting the claim under the special category, if applicable.
• Documents in support of Professional Experience, if any, must be scanned.
• If currently employed, a scanned copy of the employer's No Objection Certificate.

Yes, you can get admission to Aligarh Muslim University through any financial assistance method as the admission authorities have not mentioned any disqualification on the brochure. However, you have to ensure that you are eligible for the BA (Hons.) course by qualifying the eligibility criteria and having appeared for the counselling process. The registration for the counselling process for the 2023-24 session is currently ongoing.

For general category students, the predicted AMU cutoff 2023 for MBBS is 2000 to 475000th rank in the NEET entrance test. The DGHS of the Medical Counselling Committee releases the AMU NEET Cut off as the last rank and marks at which admissions are offered in a particular category.
