JNU PhD Admissions Via JNUEE
It is critical for aspirants who seek to pursue a doctoral degree (PhD) at JNU to qualify for the JNUEE entrance examination. JNUEE, a university-level entrance exam, is administered every year to admit meritorious candidates into JNU’s PhD, UG, PG, M.Phil and other integrated courses. Eligibility Criteria for JNUEE (PhD)

- Candidates hailing from international borders are also eligible for the said exam.

JNU PhD Admissions Via JRF Category
Individuals who wish to pursue PhD courses from JNU can opt for the JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) category. Under this category, candidates can apply for admission without the need to sit for the JNUEE Exam. In other words, JRF candidates will be exempted from undertaking the JNUEE Entrance Exam. - Interested candidates must first visit JNU’s official admission portal to register themselves.
- Aspirants must click on the ‘Apply for PhD programme’ option.
- After doing so, one must click on ‘new registration’.
- Candidates must log into their accounts by entering their designated credentials.
- Once done with that, candidates must simply enter the requisite data, i.e., personal information and qualifications.
- One must upload their photographs and signatures to ensure a successful registration process.
- One must pay the requisite registration fee to complete the application process.
Eligibility and Selection Criteria for JRF Candidates
Candidates applying for JNU PhD admission via the JRF category must meet the following pre-requisites:
- Candidates must have qualified for JRF CSIR/UGC National Eligibility Test (NET)/ICMR/AYUSH/DBT Examinations.
- JRF Candidates are not required to undertake the JNUEE 2023 Exam for PhD admission.
- Individuals are curated and selected based on their applications under the JRF category. Selected candidates are further called for their viva-voce rounds. Aspirants must clear the viva rounds to ensure a successful selection process.
- One must acquire a score of 100% in their viva round to be selected.

JNU offers more than 100 courses at the UG, PG, Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, and Doctoral level. Some of the popular courses at JNU are BA, BTech, MA, M.Sc, and MBA. JNU admissions are done through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for all UG (Except BTech) and PG (Except MBA and M.Sc Biotechnology) programs. JNU accepts JEE Main rank and CAT scores for admission to BTech and MBA programs, respectively.
JNU conducts its own entrance examination (JNUEE) for admission to the PhD program. JNU offers BA (Hons), B.Tech, B.Sc+M.Sc Integrated, and Certificate of Proficiency (CoP) programs at the UG level. UG courses at JNU are offered in the streams of Humanities, Science, Engineering, and other disciplines. JNU CUET PG Cutoff 2024 (Released)
JNU Cutoff 2024 is out for admission to MA, M.Sc, M.Tech, MPH, MCA, PG Dilploma, and ADOP programs. JNU PG cutoff score/rank is based on scores obtained in the CUET PG examination. JNU cutoff marks (percentile) are calculated based on overall scores obtained in the CUET examination. This year, MA Sociology witnessed the highest cutoff marks of 97.6667 followed by MA Arabic for which the cutoff marks are 96 in the general categpory. Ques. Is Computer Science a mandatory subject for JNU MCA admissions?
Ans. JNU offers MCA under the School of Computer and System Sciences. The basic eligibility for a Master’s in Computer Applications is either a BCA/ Bachelor in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent Degree with at least 55% marks OR B.Sc./ B.Com./ B.A. with Mathematics at 10+2 Level or at Graduation Level with at least 55% marks.

Ques. Who all are exempted from PhD written test in JNU admissions?
Ans. JRF qualified candidates will be exempted from the Written Test at JNU PhD admissions. However, such candidates must apply separately under the JRF category. Candidates shall be shortlisted and called directly for the personal interview. Aspirants must note that no one is exempted from the interview round.
Moreover, GATE qualified candidates for the admission in the school of Engineering shall be exempted from Computer Based Test (CBT) too. They must also apply separately under the GATE category to get a call directly for viva-voce.

Ans. Aspirants can get admission into proficiency diploma courses by appearing in Certificate of Proficiency exams. The Diploma of Proficiency (DOP) offered in Bahasa Indonesia, Hebrew, Mongolian, Uzbek and Pali. The admissions will be based on merit as per the performance in Certificate of Proficiency in respective language.

Ans. JNU being an all India University, the medium of instruction for all programmes of study is English unless otherwise specified. However, to facilitate students with a medium of instruction other than English at their previous degree level, the University has in-built facilities for remedial courses in English Language. Students must strengthen their foundation in English as well as to cope up with their academic and research programmes adequately.
Ques. What is the detailed admission process for the JNU MBA program?
Ans. The MBA programme is offered under the Atal Bihari Vajpayee School Of Management And Entrepreneurship in JNU. The admissions will be through CAT Scores conducted by IIMs. Moreover, upon shortlisting, the candidate must appear for a Group Discussion and a Personal Interview. The final selection of candidates for the MBA program will be based on CAT score and marks obtained in the Group Discussion and Personal Interview with respective weightage as 70%, 10% and 20%.

Ans. Aspirants cannot pursue a full-time degree at JNU with full-time employment. One of the conditions to apply for a full-time degree for any applicant is that they must not be employed while applying. It is to make sure that the attendance is maintained by the enrolled student. Moreover, to ensure good results from the student, one must not be employed while pursuing a full-time degree at JNU.
Ques. Are M.Phil candidates eligible for PhD admissions at JNU?
Ans. Yes , candidates who have completed the M.Phil. programme with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution
accredited shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme. Moreover, relaxation
of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates.

Ans. JNU has CoP or Certificate of Proficiency courses on0-campus for students interested in language specific courses. It is a one year part-time course in the language concerned in which basic skills of reading and comprehension are imparted.
The languages Certificate of Proficiency (COP) offered are Pashto, Mongolian, Bahasa Indonesia, Urdu, Uzbek and Hebrew. The admission to COP Programmes of Study in the School will be on the basis of the performance in CUET UG conducted by NTA.

Ans. In order to be eligible for a certificate of Proficiency in Hebrew, a candidate must have appeared for CUET with the following combination. Candidates must opt for English Test and General Test in section 1 and 3 respectively. Appearing in both the Sections is mandatory to get admission in JNU.
Moreover, CUET eligibility is at least Senior School Certificate (10+2) with minimum 45% marks is mandatory. The reservation criteria for The SC/ST and Person with Disability (PWD) candidates who have passed the qualifying examination irrespective of their percentage of marks are eligible to appear in the Entrance Examination.

- The ambience of the university is extremely good. We can to stay within nature 24/7. The campus is addictive.

The university accepts both immediate 12th passouts and also gap year students based on merit in the cute exam. There are certain reservations in every course but limited seats. Too many exams ..which is good but tiring.

- First of all , the campus is very close to Nature since it is part of Aravali Range in Delhi, you'll see raised lands, and jungles inside the campus
- In the terms of infrastructure, the most of department building are good including the admin and convention centre. There are a few issues when it comes Hostel
- There are water related issues in some of the hostels.
CUET UG is conducted every year for the admission in the language course in JNU. The admission procedure is very smooth. The token number is provided for huddle free admission. The staff who are assigned the duty of admission procedure are very cooperative.

PhD. Candidates conduct original research towards a PhD. dissertation in any one of the three streams of study offered at the School under the supervision of a guide from within the School’s faculty.
The PhD. Programme is designed to support a student through the process of doing original research that contributes to the chosen discipline.
Successful MPhil. students of the School may graduate to a PhD. programme. However, the School also invites applications for direct admissions to the PhD. programmes at the School.
Only those candidates will be considered for direct admission who have either:
Obtained an MPhil. Degree from a recognized University/Research Institution with a minimum Grade Point Average of 6.00 on a 10 point scale (candidates who have obtained an MPhil. Degree from a University/Institution where the MPhil. dissertation is not graded or grading is not based on a 10 point scale are required to forward a copy of their MPhil. dissertation along with the application form for the purpose of assessment of their credentials).
Possess demonstrable research experience in recognized Universities/ Research Institutions and/or research publication(s) equivalent to the MPhil. level.
The MPhil. Programmes Admission to the MPhil. is through a separate entrance examination for each stream (i) Visual Studies, (ii) Cinema Studies, and (iii) Theatre and Performance Studies followed by a viva voce.

A warm welcome to the modified and updated website of the Centre for East Asian Studies. The East Asian region has been at the forefront of several path-breaking changes since 1970s beginning with the redefining the development architecture with its State-led development model besides emerging as a major region in the global politics and a key hub of the sophisticated technologies. The Centre is one of the thirteen Centres of the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi that provides a holistic understanding of the region.
Initially, established as a Centre for Chinese and Japanese Studies, it subsequently grew to include Korean Studies as well. At present there are eight faculty members in the Centre. Several distinguished faculty who have now retired include the late Prof. Gargi Dutt, Prof. P.A.N. Murthy, Prof. G.P. Deshpande, Dr. Nranarayan Das, Prof. R.R. Krishnan and Prof. K.V. Kesavan. Besides, Dr. Madhu Bhalla served at the Centre in Chinese Studies Programme during 1994-2006. In addition, Ms. Kamlesh Jain and Dr. M. M. Kunju served the Centre as the Documentation Officers in Chinese and Japanese Studies respectively.
The academic curriculum covers both modern and contemporary facets of East Asia as each scholar specializes in an area of his/her interest in the region. The integrated course involves two semesters of classes at the M. Phil programme and a dissertation for the M. Phil and a thesis for Ph. D programme respectively. The central objective is to impart an interdisciplinary knowledge and understanding of history, foreign policy, government and politics, society and culture and political economy of the respective areas. Students can explore new and emerging themes such as East Asian regionalism, the evolving East Asian Community, the rise of China, resurgence of Japan and the prospects for reunification of the Korean peninsula. Additionally, the Centre lays great emphasis on the building of language skills. The background of scholars includes mostly from the social science disciplines; History, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, International Relations and language.
Several students of the centre have been recipients of prestigious research fellowships awarded by Japan Foundation, Mombusho (Ministry of Education, Government of Japan), Saburo Okita Memorial Fellowship, Nippon Foundation, Korea Foundation, Nehru Memorial Fellowship, and Fellowship from the Chinese and Taiwanese Governments. Besides, students from Japan receive fellowship from the Indian Council of Cultural Relations.
