The Sims 4: How to do Homework
Homework in The Sims 4 is a necessary evil and a part of everyday life for most people IRL so it makes sense that it would be inside a life simulation game. From the time your sims turn into children until they’ve graduated University they are going to be doing homework and it will take up a significant part of their lives.
There are actually a few hacks you should know to get your sims to have more fun when doing homework, get it done quicker, and just generally finish it in a timely fashion that will make you a better sims player.
How to Do Homework for Children
When a sim’s kid returns from their long day at school they are going to have a little orange book inside of their inventory which is their homework. This should be completed before they attend school again which is usually the next day unless it’s the weekend.
You can get your sims to start doing their homework by clicking on the homework book in their inventory and choosing do homework . Your sims will find the nearest place to sit (even on the ground) to start working on their homework and will work until they are finished unless they are interrupted by low needs or an event trigger like a fire.
Any adult can come over to this sim while they are doing their homework and you can choose help with homework which will get the adult involved and sitting with the child and they will get their homework done much quicker.
There is even a system for sims kids (not teens) where if your kid gets all of the four children skills to level 3 they’ll have the option to breeze through homework instead of do homework and this will get the job done quicker.
Getting these skills all to level 7 will give them the option to dominate homework which will get it done even more quickly. This is a nice hack to really finish it without it being a huge part of their day.
Once a child has finished their homework, if they have a B or higher in school, they actually have the option to do extra credit after they’ve finished their regular homework. This is good for you if you want to get your sims to increase their school performance.
If you ever find your sims without a homework book in their inventory and you have no idea where it could be you can actually purchase these for one simoleon on any book case!
How to Do Homework for Teens
Homework works pretty much the same way for teens except their homework book is a nice blue colour instead of the orange that kids get. To get them to work on their homework you’ll get them to go into their inventory and click on it and choose do homework and they will start working on it.
They too have the option to have an adult sim to help with homework by getting that sim to click on them when they’ve started their homework and getting them to assist to make it go more quickly.
Once a teenager has a B in school they have the option to do extra credit after they’ve finished their regular homework. This will help them increase their school performance and get to an A as soon as possible.
Bonus Tip: Use the earbuds from The Sims 4: Fitness Stuff Pack when doing homework to keep your sims fun need up so they aren’t feeling tense when they’re done working on it.
School Projects
With The Sims 4: Parenthood there’s a pretty decent chance each week that your sims kids will come home with a school project that they can decide to complete for a boost to their grades. If they don’t complete it within a few days they may get a small decrease to their school grades but it’s not substantial.
These projects come home with your sims in their inventory and are rather easy to complete. They have the option to work on it either carefully or sloppily. Choosing sloppily will get the job done quicker, however, you won’t see a huge increase to their grades but you also won’t see a decrease.
The better option is to work carefully so your sims can improve their school grades. While they are working on these projects they’ll actually gain a skill depending on the type of homework they are working on. For sims kids they’ll be skills like mental, creativity, etc. but for teenagers it’ll be more specific like rocket science or painting .
One awesome thing is that you can get other sims to assist in the project up to 3 sims so you can get these projects done extremely quickly and if an adult sim who has a high skill in the project type assists it’ll go so quickly.
Working on these will also increase your sim’s kids’ responsibility character value which is awesome but failing to complete it will negativity impact this.
How to Do Homework in University
With the 2019 addition of The Sims 4: Discover University we have a whole new type of homework for your sims to have to work on. These homework books are going to be a black and white composite notebook that will appear in your sims inventory when they enroll in their first semester of university.
Each time your sim goes to a class they are going to need to do their homework before they attend that class if they want to get a good grade, meaning that if you’re taking multiple classes your sim will be needing to do homework multiple times per week.
To get this University homework done you’ll want to click on the homework book and choose which class’ homework you actually want to work on and get started. You don’t have to do it all in one sitting so you can start and stop as many times as you want.
An awesome detail about University homework is that if your sims have a high level of the research and debate skill they’ll actually breeze through their homework much more quickly. You can also add the study spot lot trait to your sim’s lot to make it easier.

Final Thoughts
Homework is something you can’t avoid if you want your sims to do well in school when they’re young, but there’s no need to stress about it. Sims grades won’t affect their later days work performance or the overall success in their life, so no worries if you don’t get it done. Happy Playing!

It do work!
Doing a 4 course in sims 4 is a real tedious chore. It will consume all your sims time and you won’t have time to do anything else. They did this way worse than sims 3 university.
There are a few tricks mind you! First of all you can be at home instead, makes it all much easier and you can(like mentioned above) add the “study spot” trait to your home.
The next trick is using the club! Make sure, if you go to the university, add everyone you see to your club. Focus on getting “Rally the Troops” perk. That will allow you to get back all your energy and other needs quickly whenever you want. There is no cooldown on this. It requires 500 points so it’s not bad at all. Just make sure the gathering is on at all times(which it should be since you most likely won’t be leaving the lot). The homework perk does not work for university.
EA could easily have fixed this by reducing the homework time from 2 hours to 1 hours imo. They made it too much of a chore. It’s a GAME after all.
But that’s the whole challenge bruh

Sims 4: How to Speed Up Homework And Free Up Time
- by Mark Schusste
Just as in real life, time is really precious in The Sims 4. Your Sims may want to do all the things they like, but there are plenty of limitations to that desire of theirs. Adult Sims must first go to work to earn money for the household budget, and only then can they go out with friends or pursue their hobbies. Sounds familiar, isn’t it?
So, naturally, you may want to find ways to speed up certain tasks — such as doing homework. If your Sim is a student, you may want to make that your priority. In this manner, they will have more time to do what they really like.
After all, your Sims will spend a lot of time of their lives doing their homework and this includes grade school, high school and University, especially if you’ve got the Discover University expansion pack .

Methods to Help A Child or Teen Finish Homework Quicker in Sims 4
How do Sims do their homework? In Sims 4, there are three options that children and teens can use to do their homework:
- Do Homework — which means they’ll do their homework on their own
- Do Homework With … — using this option allows them to work together with another friend of their age group to complete the homework
- Get Help From — this option lets them ask older Sim for help.
Method 1 – Make sure children are in a good mood
Your child and teen Sims have homework to do every single day, from Monday to Friday. One way to make sure they finish this task faster is to ensure they’re in a good mood. If their mood is low, first check out what’s wrong and give them what they want to get back in a good mood as soon as possible. Once you’ve solved that problem, they can start doing their homework in a more productive manner.
Method 2 – Use the Help with Homework option
How do you help a child with homework in Sims 4? There is a dedicated option in Sims 4 that lets adult Sims help children with homework and that option is called Help With Homework. To use it, an adult Sim needs to click on the child or teen Sim and select this option to make make the homework take less time.
Method 3 – Use the Breeze Through Homework option
Make sure the children’s skills reach level 3 which gives them the right to use the Breeze Through Homework option. As its name suggests, this option helps them to complete their homework much faster than usual.
Method 4 –Â Dominate Homework
Dominate Homework is the ultimate homework speed-up option in Sims 4. But there’s a catch. This is only available for children, not teens, and they must have already reached skill level 7 to unlock it.
And now you know.

Learn the Research & Debate Skill ASAP
Sims at school get homework. Sims also get homework at university, but thereâs a lot more of it and it takes longer to complete. If your Sim is doing the maximum of 4 classes per semester, that means theyâve got 4 different pieces of homework. With every homework taking ages to do, you may find that it takes over your Simâs life while theyâre at university.
This leads to the first major tip for The Sims 4 Discover University : learn the Research & Debate skill as soon as you possibly can. Specifically, get to level 3 . At this level, your Sims will complete their homework faster. They wonât zip through it, but there will be a difference. You should learn the R&D skill as soon as your Sim enrols in university, or ideally before.
There are a few ways to learn the Research & Debate skill. You can learn it from a skill book, but experience is the best way. You can Practice Debate using a mirror, or use the podium from the debating club. In my experience, the best method for learning R&D is by using the research computer at the university library. This isnât like the other computers in the game. This special computer allows you to research different skills, gaining skill in them as well as R&D. By using the research computer, your Sim will quickly rise to level 3 of R&D, while learning a few other skills as well.
Using a research archive machine is a great way to gain Research and Debate, along with other skills.
Why stop at level 3? As you climb the ranks of the Research & Debate skill, youâll unlock many useful things. At level 4, your Sim will study faster. At level 5, they can persuade other Sims to do their homework for them. At level 6, your Sim can complete presentations and term papers faster, another time-consuming task at university.
Whenever your Sim has a free moment, get them to work on their Research & Debate skill. At the very least, get it to level 3 so you can get that homework done faster, meaning youâve got more time to do other things.
Do Homework As Soon As You Get It
Completing classwork is compulsory if you want your Sim to do well at university. Not doing it can have a big impact on your Simâs final grade. Hereâs your second major tip for The Sims 4 Discover University : if you want your Sim to succeed and get the best grades, get that homework done ASAP.
When you begin a new term, youâll have new classes, and new homework to complete. Do it as soon as the new term begins.
If you find juggling all the homework a struggle or you donât have time to do it all at once, a general rule is to prioritize which homework to do first. Start with the one whose class is coming up first. Look at your class schedule and find out when all your classes are. Hereâs an example on how to prioritize homework. If itâs Sunday in your game, do the homework for the Monday classes first. If you have more than one class on Monday, do the homework of the first class of that day, then the next, and so on.
Homework is an important part of your Simâs studies.
Donât leave homework until the last minute. Chances are you wonât have time to finish them. Even with level 3 Research & Debate, homework takes time. If you have half-finished homework before heading to class, when you finish, the progress for that homework will reset and youâll have to start again.
Another tip for The Sims 4 Discover University is to do some homework while youâre waiting outside your next class. If youâre organized and let your Sim automatically head to their classroom an hour before class is due to start, youâll have some time to kill. You can use this time to complete some homework. You wonât get it all done before class, but it gives you a head start.
On top of having a level 3 R&D skill, itâs generally a good idea to head to the university library to do your homework. Your Sim should be more focused and work faster. Itâs a good place to work as well, the library being much quieter than a hectic dorm.
The library is probably the best place to do homework.
Do Term Papers and Presentations Early
As well as attending classes and doing homework, youâll have term papers and presentations to complete. Every degree you do has these. Youâll likely have one or the other â or both â per semester. A good tip for The Sims 4 Discover University is not to neglect either of these extra homework, if you want to pass the class with an A+.
Like homework, term papers and presentations should not be left until the last minute. Term papers have to be edited and then submitted via a computer, and presentation boards have to be assembled and then presented in a classroom. On a day where youâve got classes, organization meetings, part-time jobs and managing your Needs, you donât want to submit a paper or presentation in a rush.
As soon as a new semester starts, find out if you have any term papers or presentations to do. Prioritize any outstanding homework first, then once thatâs done, you can focus on the paper or presentation. You may not feel like it after hours of scribbling away in an exercise book, but it has to be done. Putting together a presentation and writing up a paper isnât too strenuous, but they both take time.
Coursework such as term papers and presentations are very important. Donât neglect to do them.
Term Papers
To write a term paper, you need a computer. Your Sim can buy a computer if they donât own one, but they are pricey. If your budget is limited, you can find a computer in a few places. You can find PCs at libraries, including the university library, or in the dorm, if youâre staying there. Term papers are easier to do than presentations. Your Sim will write up a first draft, and youâll get notified when itâs done â except it isnât yet. It wonât be the best quality, so if you want that top grade, make sure to edit the paper. Continue doing this until you get a new notification that your Sim has done as much as they can with their paper. This means itâs ready to submit. At this point, it should be âOutstandingâ, guaranteeing your Sim a good grade. Make sure that the paper isnât Poor or Normal before you send it off.
Make sure the paper has definitely been submitted before the end of the semester. You must submit it once your Sim has finished with it. Writing it isnât enough to complete the task. Your Sim wonât get the extra points for it unless they send it away to be marked. Youâll see that it has been submitted in the Work panel, with this task struck off in gold.
You can also submit a plagiarized paper, but this is highly risky and can have serious consequences if your Sim is caught. A tip for The Sims 4 Discover University : donât resort to cheating!
Term papers are done on the computer. Make sure itâs of good quality before submitting it.
Presentations
Submitting presentations comes in two stages; putting it together and then presenting it. At the start of the semester, a blank presentation board will appear in your Simâs inventory. These can be dragged out of your Simâs inventory so they can work on it. Find a big enough space, ideally somewhere quiet, so they can get to work on it. Like term papers, your Sim produces an initial board, but itâs not the best quality. Your Sim will have to Refine and Organize it to get it to an Excellent quality. As your Sim works on their board, you can visibly see it coming together. An Excellent board looks very different to a poor quality one.
Once the board is done, the final stage is to actually present it. This involves your Sim going to their classroom. One vital reason you mustnât leave your presentation until the last minute is because performing this task is rather restricted, hence why this tip for The Sims 4 Discover University is so important. You can only present your board between the hours of 9am and 4pm, and not at weekends. This can be tricky if your Sim has classes during the day, but you will have time to do your presentation, even on a max four-class schedule. The presentation only takes an hour of your Simâs time, so as soon as theyâve finished their board and theyâve got a free hour, send them to present it. You can initiate the presentation by clicking on the board and selecting Give Final Presentation. Once the presentation is over, the coursework will be marked as completed.
Once a presentation is ready, have your Sim present it. Youâll need a free hour and can only do it within certain hours in the week.
Attend All Classes and Exams
Attending classes at university is the equivalent of your Sim heading off to work. They head over to a building and disappear for over an hour. Class attendance may be a bit of a chore, but itâs part of the university experience, and your Sim should go. Missing a class can have a negative impact on their final grade.
Sims can have a maximum of three classes per day, depending on the degree and the number of classes theyâre taking. Ideally, theyâll have two classes each day on a maximum schedule. This leaves them some time to do their homework, any term papers or presentations, tending to their Needs, as well as organizations or jobs.
An hour before class is due, your Sim should automatically head over to the building where their class is. Let them do so, as it can sometimes take them ages to get to class. If your Sim gets there early, they can do something to pass the time before they head in. A tip for The Sims 4 Discover University : use this time wisely!
If your Sim is early for class, use the time available to take care of low Needs or do some homework.
Once in class, your Sim has a few options. By default, their activity is set to Attend Class Normally, which doesnât do much, but if youâve completed the homework for this class, you should still do well. If you want your Sim to be a guaranteed straight-A student, get them to Take Notes as soon as class starts (another major tip for this guide for The Sims 4 Discover University ). They can also Actively Listen, which increases the skill of the class theyâre learning. They can also socialize with other students, which helps with the Social Need but not their class performance. You can also choose to Sleep in Class, if your Sim is tired and youâre not fussed about gaining anything.
When class is over, youâll see a message telling you how well your Sim did. Those wanting to get A+s will want to see a message that your Sim is confident about doing well. You donât want to be told that your Sim could have done better.
If your Sim isnât doing a term paper or presentation for their class, then theyâll do a Final Exam on the last day of class. Before their exam, make sure your Sim has done everything to be prepared. Make sure your Sim has done their homework, and if youâre worried about your grade, do some extra studying. The final exam happens in place of your normal class. Make sure your Sim attends! Missing it is not a good idea. The only options available during exams are Attend Normally, Sleep and Cheat. Just let your Sim get on with it and hopefully youâll have done enough to get a good grade.
Being late for class may have a negative impact on your final grade.
Do Some Extra Studying If You Think You Need To
As long as you attend all classes and exams and are attentive, as well as completing all homework, term papers and presentations, you should be all set for that A+ at the end of the semester. However, if youâre not sure youâre going to bag that top grade, you can always do some extra studying, a tip you should keep in mind for The Sims 4 Discover University .
Things may crop up during your time at university that may affect your grade; your Sim might have missed a class or two, or even the big exam. You may have forgotten to do that term paper or presentation, or you just ran out of time. Perhaps your Sim neglected their homework or didnât pay enough attention in class. Accidental or otherwise, these things can negatively affect your final grade. Luckily, you can do extra studying to bump up your grade.
A little extra studying never hurts for your final grade, particularly if youâve missed a few classes or neglected some coursework.
You can study via two ways. You can purchase a book on the course you are doing. This is available from the university stands around campus. You can also study from a computer under the University option. A few hours of reading should notch your grade up. Note that you cannot study after the final class or exam of the semester. The fate of your Simâs grades are in their professorâs hands!
If youâre unsure of where your grade stands, you can check in with your professor by using a computer. Theyâll give you a message hinting at how they think youâll do. If youâre set for an A+, theyâll tell you youâre doing a great job. If youâre about average or on track to fail, theyâll let you know, suggesting you might benefit from some extra studying.
You can study on the research computer to improve your grade.
Donât Neglect Your Simsâ Needs
Needs play a big part in The Sims . A Sim with low Needs will function poorly. Theyâll be unhappy, constantly complain, and wonât be in the mood to do anything. All these are bad for your Simâs time at university. You canât expect your Sim to study or work when their Needs are in the red.
With your Sim being so focused on their studies, Needs can sometimes take a back seat, but they shouldnât. It can be a real struggle to maintain your Simâs Needs while reaching for that A+, on top of everything else, but it is doable. A big tip for The Sims 4 Discover University is learning how to organize your Sim. Hereâs how you can manage all six of your Simâs individual Needs.
University life will be much harder if your Sim has low Needs.
Of all the Needs, Hunger is the top priority. This you must never ever neglect. If it hits rock bottom, your Sim dies, as simple as that. Hungry Sims also complain a lot and are in a bad mood, so you donât even want the Hunger Need in the orange.
Between all the classes, studying, assignments, and everything else, it can be hard to find a moment to stop and eat â but you have to.
If you live in a dorm, despite there being no kitchen, there should be at least one Sim putting out plates of food for Sims to help themselves. These wonât spoil for hours once theyâre served up, and they fill your Sims up nicely, so take advantage of them. However, if for some reason dorm food isnât being dished out, there are other means of getting food.
If youâre lucky, a Sim will produce some delicious food at your dorm.
If you live in a dorm and you find that food isnât being served up, get yourself a mini fridge. Build Mode isnât available, but you can get one from the university shop. Theyâre not very expensive. If youâve got the extra cash, you should also get yourself a microwave. You can place it on top of the fridge and heat up some quick and easy meals to keep you going.
The two campuses, University of Britechester and Foxbury Institute, have food stands. This is useful if you want to eat food on the go. Thereâs only four choices available, but itâs better than nothing and theyâre not expensive. The food stands arenât always open though, so this may not always be an option. If you have Seasons installed, seasonal food stalls may also pop up, so take advantage of these while theyâre around.
If youâve got some spare cash, consider getting your own mini fridge and microwave for some quick snacks.
Another option is the Pepperâs Pub, located not far from the library. They serve the usual bar grub to fill you up, so long as someone is at the bar. Itâs a good hangout place too, if your Sim wants to socialize and fulfil their Fun Need with the TV, stereo, and ping-pong table.
If your Sim quickly needs a snack to keep them going, consider getting fruit and veg, anything your Sim can eat on the go.
These food stands are useful for Sims on the go who want a quick bite to eat.
With so much going on at university, your Sims can find themselves getting tired. Try not to let this happen. With classes and coursework, your Sim needs to be focused and alert, not crashing in bed â or on the floor.
A good tip for The Sims 4 Discover University is to make sure your Sim has a proper bedtime routine. Try not to have too many late nights; some classes start early in the morning. You should send your Sim to bed no later than midnight if you want them to get a decent nightâs sleep.
If your Sim does find themselves getting tired during the day, find a free few hours to catch up on some Zzzzâs. Grab a nap in bed, or even on a bench if you need to. If your Simâs Energy is low and thereâs no time to sleep, if you have a spare 400 satisfaction points, buy a Sleep Replacement potion from the Rewards Store to fill up their Energy Need. Your Sims can also catch a nap during classes and exams, but if you want your Sim to get an A+, itâs best not to unless youâre really desperate.
Get a proper nightâs sleep if your Sim is dealing with a jam-packed schedule.
Bladder is easy to take care of: just go to the toilet! It can be easy to neglect the bladder Need though, if youâre focused on your Simâs studies. When it dips into the orange, finish up what youâre doing and get them to the restroom. Also, if your Sim goes to class with low bladder, the Bladder meter may fill up while theyâre there.
When your Sims are fully focused on their coursework, the Fun Need can easily be forgotten. A tip for The Sims 4 Discover University : donât forget to let your Sims have some fun! They will not be happy otherwise. If your Simâs Fun Need is getting low, wrap up whatever university work they are doing and find something fun to do. Dorms have a few fun activities available, such as the TV, stereos, game table, and computer. For a quick fun boost, your Sim can browse the internet or play games on their phone. You could also carry a book around for your Sim to read.
Give your Sims a break from studying, or theyâll burn out.
Studying and coursework can be isolating, hence the Social Need might become neglected. Itâs pretty easy to get your Simâs Social Need out of the red. At university, your Sim is never alone. Thereâs always someone around to talk to. This is especially the case if you live in a dorm. Your Sim has their phone as well, so they can call or text someone. You can socialize during class time, but this may have a negative impact on your Simâs final grade, so save the chit-chat for outside of class hours.
Hygieneâs another Need thatâs pretty easy to deal with, yet easy to neglect as well with all that studying. The dorms have shower stalls that you can use for a quick wash, or just wash your hands or brush your teeth at the sink if you havenât even got time for a quick shower. Just donât let this Need get into the red. Stinky Sims arenât happy Sims.
Save Money Where You Can
Hereâs a big tip if youâre playing Discover University : spend what you need, save what you can. It might be the case that youâre playing as a starter Sim, or youâre just low on funds. Going to university in The Sims 4 isnât free. You get charged 75 simoleons for just enrolling, and you have to pay for every semester. Thereâs also books to buy, as well as other stuff you might need. Therefore, attending university can sometimes get expensive. However, it doesnât have to drain your Simâs pockets. There are ways to save money at university.
Your Sims can live on campus in a dorm. This costs money per semester for your board, but dorms offer plenty of ways to spare your bucks. Your fellow roommates can conjure meals out of thin air, saving you having to buy food or spend money to cook it yourself. You can also harvest fruit and veg from various worlds and neighborhoods so you can snack on them as you go. Dorms also guarantee a place to sleep, have fun, socialize, and tend to other Needs such as bladder and hygiene. You canât use Build Mode while living in a dorm, but you donât really need it. You have everything you need already.
Dorms are great places to live, providing pretty much everything you need.
Saying that, you can choose for your Sims not to live on campus. Your Sims can study and live at home. You might miss out not living on campus, but it saves money on board, so this is an option if you wish.
While at university, you may be tempted to buy a laptop that you can carry around everywhere or your own mini fridge to provide snacks and quick meals, as well as study books in case you fall behind. Truth is though, you donât really need these things. They cost a lot of money, and you can manage without. If you do have plenty of cash to spare, by all means get them, but donât feel that you have to. Computers are available at the library, and there should be at least one in your dorm. They may not be high-end PCs, and you might have to boot another Sim off of them, but they get the job done. You can get food in plenty of places, so a mini fridge isnât really necessary. Study books are expensive, and chances are youâll buy them and then never read them, so donât waste your simoleons. You can use the computer to study anyway, and if you keep on top of your classes and assignments, they wonât be needed.
If your Sims do find themselves short on money, thereâs plenty of ways to get some. Get a part-time job, do some odd-jobs, find and sell collectibles, tutor a class, make something for profit, sell stuff you donât need; the possibilities are endless. Thereâs always a way to make money in The Sims 4 .
Your Sim can get a part-time job to bring some money in, so long as it doesnât clash with their class schedule.
Schedule Too Hectic? Reduce Classes Per Semester
University is an unforgettable experience like no other, but it can also be stressful. There are classes, assignments, managing Needs, your Simâs social life, clubs, and jobs. All this can easily get on top of you and your Sim. Having a hectic and unbalanced schedule can lead to something getting neglected, whether it be your Simâs grades, their Needs, or their work performance. Donât let your Sims suffer. University is very rewarding, but donât take on too much. If youâre new to the university experience, taking a max of four classes may not be the best idea, unless you want a challenge. If youâre struggling with four classes and everything else, hereâs another Discover University tip for you: reduce your schedule.
Your Sim can take at least one class per semester and a maximum of four. If you find juggling four different classes a struggle, scale it back. Reduce the number of classes to three, or two, or even just one. Taking less classes per semester may mean spending more weeks at university, but this does give your Sim more breathing space, plus more time to focus on other things. Freeing up class time will give you more time for your social life, keeping your Sims happier, or taking on a job or club. If you feel like classes and assignments are taking over your Simâs life, donât be afraid to scale it back.
Are 4 classes a semester too stressful? You might want to think about reducing your schedule.
On the other hand, if you donât want to spend forever on your degree, take the max of four classes per semester. Each class gives your Sim credit towards their degree. They need to pass 12 classes altogether to graduate from university. This means that the shortest time your Sim can spend at university to get their degree is 3 weeks. If you just do one class every week, itâll take 12 weeks altogether! If you want to get through university fast and want to focus on your coursework, thatâs fine, but this might mean having to sacrifice other aspects of your Simâs life. They may not be able to attend an organization meeting if it clashes with class, or they may need to prioritize a presentation over meeting with friends. Then again, you may find a way to juggle everything. Organization is key.
Final Tips for The Sims 4 Discover University
Here are a few final tips for attending university:
- Unhappy with university? Do you feel youâre wasting your time with the degree youâre doing? Are you not happy with where youâre residing while studying? You can change university, the degree, or your accommodation anytime. Youâre presented with this option at the end of every semester. If thereâs something youâre not happy about, you can change it. Donât feel obligated to finish a degree or stay in one place throughout your whole time. Also, donât forget that you can drop out of university altogether if youâre really not happy and donât feel that youâre gaining anything.
- Unsure of what degree to do? Consider what youâd like your Sim to do as a career. If you donât know the answer to this, think about doing something that might interest your Sim. What are their highest level skills or interests? Remember that you can swap degrees if you change your mind after starting.
- While youâre at university, you should consider joining an organization. These are exclusive to those enrolled in university and theyâre unlike any other club or activity. Just make sure your hectic class schedule can accommodate it!
Organizations such as the debate team are exclusive to Sims enrolled at university.
- If youâre planning to study for a career that comes in an Expansion, Game or Stuff Pack, you may need to take an Elective Class so you can study for a skill not available in the degrees. For example, the Gardener career from Seasons has the Flower Arranging skill, which you donât learn in any of the 12 degrees, but you can take an Elective Class for. However, this means not being able to do the max 4 classes per semester, extending your time at university. If you want to avoid this, simply learn the skill youâll need for the career by other means, such as from a skill book or hands-on experience.
- Your Sims will be at university for at least 3 in-game weeks, which can really eat into your Simâs lifespan. Consider turning off aging while at university, or setting the lifespan to Long.
- Make sure you donât miss your Simâs graduation ceremony! This usually takes place the morning after their last official day of classes. You can find out the exact time by opening up the calendar. Make sure the ceremony doesnât clash with anything; you might want to cancel any other plans. If you do happen to miss it, donât worry. Your Sim will still graduate.
- After the graduation ceremony, your Sim has the chance to pack up any stuff they may have scattered around their dorm. Make sure you donât leave anything valuable behind, such as mini fridges or computers. Even if you donât plan to keep these, you can still sell them for money.
The graduation ceremony is a one-time event, so try not to miss it.
That rounds up all the tips you need to know about succeeding in university in The Sims 4 Discover University Expansion Pack. Let us know in the comments how you manage university life in Discover University !

How do you take your final exam in The Sims 4?
If you have an adult sim taking university courses, you can have them take the final exam by attending the last day of class. It should be noted, however, that it appears a bug exists that prevents players from having their sim take the final exam. As of writing, no official source has confirmed nor denied this bug’s existence nor have they confirmed or denied that a patch fix has been implemented.

When you think of gaming, homework probably is the furthest thing from your mind– but in the Sims 4, knowing how to do homework is the key to becoming a successful student, integral with the parenting skill, and impacts your Simsâ life in a few ways.
One thingâs for certain: whether youâre trying to raise a family, or cramming study sessions in between dorm parties, knowing how to do homework is a must in the Sims 4– and thereâs more to it than you might think. Consider this your guide to homework, and all things related, in the Sims 4.
Homework in Sims: A Brief History
Homework has been signature gameplay in the Sims franchise. As a life simulator, it only makes sense that, just like players have to contend with paying bills, cleaning dirty dishes, and juggling careers with relationships, parenting, and everyday life. And itâs actually rather interesting to see how doing homework in the Sims has been important from generation to generation, but also evolved.
Hereâs a Sparknotes version of the history of homework in the Sims franchise.
Homework was not a mainstay of the original Sims game, but it was in the Sims 2. In the Sims 2, homework was important for teens, kids, and the then-new young adult life stage.
Children and Teens
A child and teen in the Sims 2 were required to go to school (with options for both public and private). Homework was generated daily. After the bus brought the kid home, that child Sim would have a physical copy of homework in their hand. Normally, homework would be set on a desk or nearby surface, though I remember many times it would just as often be placed on the ground. Completing homework had a direct effect on the Simsâ grades. Every day without incomplete homework resulted in a deduction.
A teenâs homework was a duller color, compared with the bright hues of a kidâs homework. If a Simsâ needs were not met, then they would likely not finish homework. When a Sim aged up, their homework automatically disappeared.
There were a few basic interactions for children and teens with homework in the Sims 2.
- Work on Homework
- Complete Homework
- Ask for Homework Help — this could be asked of any older Sim, and not only helped Sims complete homework more quickly, but also allowed them to complete homework more efficiently in the future.
Young Adults
Young adults were introduced in the Sims 2 University expansion pack, and have since become perhaps the most popular life stage in the Sims franchise. In the Sims 2, this life stage was limited to the University expansion. These young adults worked on assignments in order to influence their grades. It worked in a similar way as with kids and teens, though in addition to homework, they also had exams to deal with.
Sims 3 continued the homework system from Sims 2, making it clear that doing homework would become an expected gameplay feature in the Sims franchise. In many ways, Sims 3 kept the same basic systems for homework intact but enhanced it through new traits, packs, and an updated interface.
School, again, was mandatory for children in the Sims 3 , with a new boarding school option for no private school. If a Sim was sent to boarding school, there was nothing that you needed to worry about in terms of completing homework. Otherwise, it worked more or less the same way: new homework was generated and had to be completed for every school day.
New features included:
- The ability to do homework with a Sim of the same age
- The ability to copy homework (which could send them to detention)
- Ability to work on past due homework
- Enhanced homework completion with the workaholic and bookworm traits or if your Sim was a vampire (Sims 3: Supernatural expansion)
- Homework became a hidden skill
- Sims with an A average could select their new trait when they became a teen or young adult
- Grades listed in the new Simology panel
Young Adults (and Adults)
Sims who opted to attend college (via the Sims 3: University Life expansion pack), of course, had homework of their own. Homework, or assignments, were fairly similar to Sims 2, and, like Sims 2, the grades were determined by other factors like exams, but also somewhat how they behaved in their seminars, as well as outside projects.
Homework in the Sims 4- Your Guide
If youâve played previous Sims games, the good news is that homework in the Sims 4 isnât too different from previous Sims games. But like each generation, there are different tricks and tips you need to keep in mind to be successful, whether you are just looking to complete homework to help teens pass high school, or your Sims are tackling on a degree at the University of Britechester or Foxbury Institute of Technology.
Hereâs what I think you need to know.
Children are required to go to school, and Sims 4 does arguably take a step back in that public school is the only option for children and teens.
Getting to School
In a curious move, Sims 4 does not have any transportation that picks Sims up. In fact, the lack of even cars in the game has been a source of contention. In any case, a school bus wonât pick up children or teens, nor can you watch them make their way to school, as you could in the Sims 3. Instead, children and teens will either automatically transport themselves to school, or you can prompt them.
Decisions During School
Especially if you have Sims 4 Parenthood game pack, you can influence teen and child Simsâ days at school, at least a little. Pop-ups may occasionally come up where you are given a scenario, just as another kid caught cheating, or your Sim being teased. Some of these will impact your Simâs mood and social life. Sometimes, a child or teen will also ask for advice, which is tied to Sims 4 Parenthood parenting skills.
Locating Homework
As was the case with Sims 2, there is a small distinction in the appearance of children and teensâ homework. Children Sim will have a yellow Grade School Handbook, which, when not being worked on, is typically in their inventory. Teen homework is a blue notebook.
If youâre like me, though, sometimes homework gets lost in the house. If that happens you can actually purchase homework from a bookcase for a single simoleon. And unlike in the Sims 2, homework isnât assigned to one Sim in particular, meaning a kid can complete their homework even if it wasnât their original copy.
How to Do/ Complete Homework
To work on homework, simply drag it out of your Simsâ inventory and click on it for the âDo Homeworkâ option. You can have your Sim to do homework all at once, or pick it back up after taking care of their needs. Remember, your teen or child Sim will be assigned homework every school day, with no new homework on weekends.
Homework and Grade Performance
Knowing how to do homework in Sims 4 is helpful for grade performance, but it also isnât the only factor. In fact, by building skills, working on projects, and even keeping your Sims in a good mood, you can remain a fairly good student even when you skip homework from time to time.
Sims that are at a B or A average also will have access to the âDo Extra Creditâ option. This pops up after they complete their homework for the day and you select their homework a second time (homework doesnât disappear after being completed like previous Sims games). Extra credit is a chance to boost your Simsâ grades even more.
School Projects
School Projects are a unique feature exclusive to the Sims 4: Parenthood game pack. Available to teens and children, Sims can both work on their own projects and assist others. Working on a project builds all child skills at once.
Unlike homework, there is no official deadline for school projects so there arenât penalties for however long it takes. Once a project is completed, the student can start on a new one. Adults can help both teens and kids; kids can be helped by teens/.
Youâll be able to select from one of seven projects, all available for purchase on build mode. The completed project will be rated as excellent, good, or poor. Siblings may get upset with one another if their project is destroyed by a brother or sister.
How to Do Homework Faster
I admit; sometimes I get impatient with doing homework in Sims 4, especially if I have other plans for the family. The good news is that, if you work on your Simsâ skills, you can speed up the process for children.
Youâll need to work equally on the four major skills for Sim Children: creativity; mental; motor; social; and mental. Level 3 of all of these allows you to âBreeze through Homeworkâ while level 7 allows them to âDominate Homeworkâ.
For teens, your only real option is installing a mod (which I will discuss later).
University Students
Young adult and adult Sims can attend one of two campuses if you have the The Sims 4: Discovery University expansion pack installed. Homework, as you might imagine, is part of the equation–but the homework system looks different for adult and young adult Sims than it does for younger Sims, which impacts how you should do homework.
Getting Accepted
I wonât go into a full guide to the Discover University pack, but, in a nutshell, you Sim will have to first apply using a computer. Based upon their previous grades, skill set, and some other factors, they will either be offered or denied admission to the program of their choice at the University of Britechester of Foxbury Institute of Technology.
There is also the opportunity to gain scholarships and take out loans to finance their education. In my experience, most get accepted to school but may be limited to pursuing an honorary degree. Humanities-based degrees at Britechester, like English Literature, are honorary, while if you want a science or technology degree with distinction your Sim should attend the more modern Foxbury.
Homework Load at University
Homework is a part of the university experience in Sims 4, and doing it will help your Simsâ performance. Homework appears in their inventory (as a black and white book) and is meant to be completed before every class. You can also purchase homework from a bookshelf or the collegeâs kiosk (found out on the quad).
Classes are usually in the form of seminars and do not last all day, but your Sim, depending on your enrollment decisions, will likely have at least two classes per day, meaning youâll have to juggle multiple assignments.
Other Types of Homework
In addition to doing daily homework, Sims need to attend class regularly. Youâll also be working towards end of the semester exams, final projects, and term papers, depending on the class. Doing homework daily is helpful in keeping their grade average high, and putting a little less pressure on a term paper. It is possible to flunk out of college, so doing homework on a regular basis and attending classes is a must.
How to Make Homework Easier
Knowing how to do homework doesnât cut it, though. Between classes, roommates, parties, extracurriculars, and just taking care of basic needs, if youâre like me, youâll want to tip things in your Simsâ favor a little. Here are some tips
- Work on skills related to their major, or current classes
- Keep your Sim in a good mood by keeping needs in check
- Decorate your space with objects that exude a âFocusedâ mood (you can see this if you hover over objects in buy mode)
- Lock your dorm room to other Sims when studying
- Work on the Research and Debate skills
- Study in the library or another place if your roommate is partying
- Live off-campus and apply the âStudy Spotâ lot traits
Using Mods for Better Homework
If you know how to do homework in the Sims 4 but want it to run more smoothly, another option is to download a mod. I always caution that mods are at your own risk, and they can break, so make sure you check to see that the mod has been updated and that youâre downloading from a secure site.
Better Autonomous Homework by LittleMsSam
This mod fixes what many saw as a deficit in the Sims 4 homework system, by making sure that child Sims will do their homework without your prompting. Now and Sim with an A, B, or C average wonât require you to direct them to do their homework, at least initially.
There are optional add ons, too, such as careers affecting the speed they complete their homework; automatic transfer of homework to inventories when not in use; and a mod for NPCs. Read/ Download Here .
Faster Homework (University Edition) by Scarletâs Mods
As the name suggests, this mod allows your Sims studying at college to do homework faster. While homework normally takes 150 Sim minutes to complete, this mod allows them to complete it in 10, 25 or 50 minutes. Itâs truly a huge time saver. Read/ Download Her e.
Subject Homework by ScarletQueenKat
Subject Homework adds a little nuance and potential storytelling element for how to do homework for teens and kids in the Sims 4, all the while improving skills. Children will now be able to practice vocabulary (improves motor skill); review social studies (increases social skill) and do math problems (improves mental skill).
Teens can now solve algebra problems (increases logic skill); write a fitness article (raises fitness skill); practice creative writing (increases writing skill); and study music theory (improve the guitar skill).

Question: Where is homework located in The Sims 4?
Answer: You can find homework in your Simsâ inventory. Sometimes. Sims will work on it and place it elsewhere. If you lose homework, it can be purchased from a bookshelf for one simoleon, or at a University kiosk for college students.
Question: Can you grade homework in Sims 4?
If you have Sims 4 Discover University installed, you get an opportunity to grade homework if your Sim is in the Education Career. To grade homework, you need to navigate to the Education Career menu. From there, you can access student homework.
Final Thoughts
Knowing how to do homework in the Sims 4 can make your playing experience a lot easier. With the help of skills, and maybe some mods, homework will take up less of your gameplay time, while your Sims still stay top students–if they, and you, so choose.

Step-By-Step Guide to Doing Homework in The Sims 4
How you perform homework depends on which stage your Sim is in their education. Hereâs a detailed guide for doing homework across all ages in Sims 4.
Children â How to Do Homework in The Sims 4
To get your child to do homework, follow these steps:
- Send your child to school.
- When they return home, select the child and check their inventory . There should be an orange book â this is their homework book.
- Click on the book and select Do homework . The child will sit down and begin completing the task.
- If needed, an adult Sim can assist with their childâs homework, which will speed the process up.
Make sure your character completes their homework before the next school day for optimum performance at school.
Teens â How to Do Homework in The Sims 4
If youâre struggling to get your teen Sim to do homework in The Sims 4, follow these steps:
- Send your teen to school.
- When they return home, check their inventory . Your teenage Sims should have a blue book, which is their homework book.

Homework is a feature available for kids in elementary school, high school teens, and adults attending college. The only way to ensure a good grade in school in The Sims 4:  homework must  be done. It’s easy, though. For kids and teenagers, do the following:
- Select the Sim in question and open their inventory
- Find the homework book ( orange for kids/blue for teens )
- Select the homework book and choose “Do Homework”
The Sim will find anywhere free to sit, and as long as they’re not interrupted by another Sim or their needs, they should complete it in a decent amount of time. Homework works the same for adults in college in The Sims 4 . The only difference is what you’ll see depends on how many classes you’re taking:
- Select the Sim and open their inventory
- Find the black-and-white composition homework book
- Select the book and choose which class to do homework in (if taking multiple classes)
Homework Tips
You can get by well enough by simply doing homework every day before school. But we don’t want to just do homework in The Sims 4 . We want to thrive at it. You can do a few extra things to ensure your Sim gets the job done fast and efficiently.
Get Help From Parents
Want to be a good parent in The Sims 4 ? Well, help the kids out with homework. Both children and teens can get homework help from their parents. As an adult Sim, walk over to younger Sim doing homework, select them, and choose “Help with Homework.” This will help them get through it faster.
Raise Your Skills
Raising skills is a great way to finish homework faster in The Sims 4 . Get children to level 3 in all four skills to see the option to “Breeze through homework.” Get to level 7 to “Dominate homework” for an even faster experience.
Adult Sims can benefit from this, too. Raise your research and debate skills so that they’ll finish their university homework faster.
Keep Things Fun
This homework tip won’t necessarily help you finish it faster in The Sims 4 , but it will help your Sim maintain their Fun need. Because, let’s face it, homework isn’t exactly a thrilling experience. If you don’t want that need to trickle into the red (and you have the Fitness pack), choose to equip your Sims’ earbuds from their inventory. Listening to music tends to keep their Fun up so that they’re not upset once they’re done.
Cheats and Mods
Now, if you really don’t want to bother with homework in The Sims 4 , you can always dabble in cheats and mods. Remember to enable cheats before you do anything. You can dive into the fun world of cheating on any system:
- PC: Press ctrl + shift + c , type testingcheats true , and hit enter. Close the box by selecting ctrl + shift + c again.
- Console: Hold all four triggers down on the controller until the text box shows, then type testingcheats true and hit enter. Close the box by hitting all four triggers again.
- Mac: Press command + shift + c , type testingcheats true , and hit enter. You can close the box by pressing command + shift + c.
If we’re just focusing on homework, these cheats can help:
- Makes your Sim Focused
- Makes your Sim Focused for 12 hours
Higher focus ensures that Sims can complete homework much quicker. For college Sims, you can cheat the Research and Debate skill with this:
- stats.set_skill_level major_researchdebate 10
As for mods, there are too many to list. If you’re comfortable using them, you can check out places like curseforge to discover a variety of homework-related mods for The Sims 4 . Some can help Sims get their work done faster, while others ensure they actually sit at a desk. It’s up to you if you want to explore any mods.
And that’s just about everything you should know about homework in The Sims 4 . Some people enjoy the brain challenge, while others view it as yet another chore. But the faster you get it done, the quicker you can return to more delightful activities, more so for the adult Sims  out there.
The Sims 4 is available on PC, Mac, PlayStation, and Xbox.

How to do your sim’s homework on the sims 4.
Welcome to our Sims 4 guide for homework!
Have you ever wondered if there’s any different way to approach your sims homework on the Sims 4? Then this guide is going to be perfect for you! Today we are going to talk about how you can help your sims finish their homework faster, giving them more time to do other things. Because time is valuable and your sims don’t have to waste it all by doing homework. We first saw homework on The Sims 2, and ever since our sims have to complete it on school days. It helps with your sim’s grades and is a must if you want to pick their next trait. It takes about an hour to complete, though there are ways to speed up the process. On The Sims 4 Discover University, adult sims that are in university are also given homework.
Little life-hacks for your sim’s homework on the Sims 4
Have an adult sim help them.
Sims can finish their homework much faster if a grown-up helps them. To do so, have them sit somewhere and start doing their homework. Then, take control of any other adult sim in the household. Click on the sim that is doing their homework and choose the option “Help with homework”. However, keep in mind that this increases the chances that one of them gets distracted! Try and fill all of their needs first to keep that from happening.
Raise your sim’s skills to receive a speed boost
If your child sim has all of their skills on level 3 and above, you’ll notice that there’s a new option for homework. It’s called “Breeze through homework”. This will cut the time that they need to complete it! You can take it a step further and raise all of their skills to level 7. This will unlock the option to “Dominate homework”. With “Dominate homework” your sims will be able to complete their homework even more quickly! But, this speed boost isn’t available for teens or older sims.
Get your sims in a focused mood
If all else fails, you can always make your sims get in a focused mood. By doing so, they’ll be less distracted and will complete their homework faster! You can get your sims focused by:
- Buying and placing focused aura items around them.
- Drinking pitch black tea.
- Upgrading objects by using the handiness skill.
- Bathing in citrus soaks. (Spa Day)
- Doing mind concetrating yoga. (outdoor retreat)
- Drinking a focused potion.
- Playing chess.
Common issues related to homework on the Sims 4
I somehow lost my sim’s homework.
It happens, sims just love losing their stuff. But don’t worry, you can just buy a new one from a bookcase for just §1! The same thing goes for your sims in university. You can also do your sim’s homework using someone else’s book! In The Sims 4, homework books aren’t unique for every sim.
My sim just won’t sit down to do homework
If your sim just doesn’t want to do their homework there are two ways to solve it. One, you can try to fill their needs. Make sure that they’re not peckish or sleepy. No one wants to be uncomfortable when doing their homework. The other solution is to disable autonomy. To do that, go into your game’s gameplay settings. Then, pick “Disable Autonomy for Selected Sim”. Problem solved!
We hope you found this guide useful! Homework can be a nightmare. Both in the real world and the sims world. If we forgot anything, let us know down in the comments!

How to do homework in The Sims 4 Guide
Homework in The Sims 4 holds significant weight, acting as a pivotal component in a Simâs journey. It not only shapes their academic growth but also molds their future opportunities. For school-aged Sims, namely children and teenagers, homework becomes an everyday assignment that plays into their daily routines.
When a Sim transitions into either the child or teenager phase, theyâre bestowed with homework books. The younger children receive orange ones, while the teens are given blue books.
To embark on their homework journey, Sims needs to access their inventory, find the homework book, and select the âdo homeworkâ command. But fret not if you misplace a Simâs homework! Thereâs always the option to buy another set for a mere Simoleon from any available bookcase.
Managing Sims 4 Homework for School-aged Sims
Every weekday, from Monday to Friday, these school-goers are assigned homework in Sims 4. It becomes part and parcel of their academic life. Now, to ensure that they do their assignments promptly and effectively, there are strategies that players can employ:
- Adult Sim Assistance : A little help can go a long way. An adult Sim, when prompted, can aid a child or teen in their homework endeavors, cutting down the time it takes to complete it.
- Breeze through Homework : As a child Sim hone their skills and achieve level three in all four child skills, they unlock a special âBreeze through Homeworkâ capability, allowing them to finish their tasks in record time.
- Dominate Homework : For the prodigious child Sim who scales their skills to level seven, the âDominate Homeworkâ feature becomes available, serving as a turbo boost to their homework completion rate. Itâs noteworthy, however, that this feature is strictly for the children, leaving the teens to find their pace.
Advanced Homework Strategies for Teens in Sims 4
Teenage Sims have their own academic battles in The Sims 4. They attend high school daily, and with it comes the responsibility of daily homework. Players have the unique opportunity to accompany their teen Sims to school, oversee their academic endeavors, and influence their choices. To kick-start the homework ritual:
- Dive into the Simâs personal inventory and scout for the blue book adorned with white writing.
- Hover over the said item and pick the âDo Homeworkâ directive.
- During this, the Sim settles down at a table, immersing themselves in their assignment.
- For a little push, players can usher an adult Sim to pitch in, selecting the âHelp with schoolworkâ option.
- For Sims striving for excellence, especially those with grades languishing below a B, thereâs always the âDo extra credit workâ avenue which, when taken, provides noticeable benefits in school.
University Homework in The Sims 4 University Expansion
The University expansion in The Sims 4 introduces a different ball game. With the pursuit of a degree, Sims is saddled with daily homework duties, even before their first class commences. To stay atop this academic ladder and eye that A-plus grade:
- The university homework can be accessed via a black-and-white book in the Simâs inventory.
- From this book, players can cherry-pick the specific class homework they desire their Sims to tackle.
- To amp up the homework progress, thereâs the âStudy Spotâ lot trait. Players can either:
- Infuse this trait into their houses or dorms.
- Opt for a library visit, a place inherently bestowed with the âStudy Spotâ trait.
But the game-changer lies in the research and debate skills. Sims equipped with this skill donât just breeze through their homework but also master term papers and presentations with flair. Beginning this skill development in the teenage years can provide a formidable advantage during the university phase.

The Sims 4 Discover University: Guide to Academic Success
Presented by EA Game Changers
Getting into university is one thing; excelling in university is quite another. For most people, the joys of university lie in balancing work with pleasure. A little studying here, a little partying there, leading to an overall well-rounded university experience.
This guide is not for the casual university student. This guide will walk you through how to throw yourself completely into your education in order to achieve the best grades (and the best future) possible. Throw away your juice kegs and break out those textbooks because school is all you’re going to know for the next three terms.
For a breakdown on scholarships and applying to university, see our guide, Discover University: Applying to University !
Class Selections
Of course, it all starts with enrolling and selecting your degree and classes. No matter which degree you pursue, you’ll have to select up to 4 classes per term. Classes change every term so you’ll see new ones available every time you select your classes at the start of term. You can’t change which classes you’ll be taking for your degree; you can only choose the number of classes.
However, Sims have the option of enrolling in 1 elective each term. Electives are fun classes that focus on skills outside of your degree and you will be able to select which elective your Sim will take that term. There are all kinds of electives that span a wide variety of skills. Electives are fully integrated across all packs, so depending on which add-on content you have installed, you may see different electives for skills from different packs.
Electives are optional; your Sim doesn’t need to take any electives at all, but if they do choose to take an elective, they can only take up to 3 other classes. Sims are limited to 4 classes per term in total, so either 4 classes, or 3 classes and 1 elective.
Our recommendation? Take 3 classes and 1 elective every term for maximum academic success. Electives still count as credits towards your degree so taking an elective doesn’t hurt your progress at all, plus your Sim will graduate with a few extra skills thanks to the electives they took.
One term last 5 working days. There is no way to shorten or lengthen a term. They are fixed periods. Sims can begin a new term anytime during the week, but weekends don’t count as term days. If your Sim starts a new term on a Friday, the term won’t end until Thursday the following week. Starting a new term in the middle of the week can be a good academic strategy for dedicated students because it will give them the weekend to catch up on homework and final assignments.
How many terms your Sim needs to complete in order to graduate is entirely dependent on how many classes they decide to take per term. A Sim needs to earn 12 credits in order to graduate.
Here is the breakdown of how many terms your Sim will need to complete based upon their classes:
- 4 classes per term = 3 terms (15 working days)
- 3 classes per term = 4 terms (20 working days)
- 2 classes per term = 6 terms (30 working days)
- 1 class per term = 12 terms (60 working days)
These calculations are based on the assumption that your Sim completes the same number of classes every term. It is possible to take a different number of classes each term (4 classes one term, 2 the next term, for example), in which case the number of terms needed to graduate will vary.
Even if a Sim only takes 3 terms to graduate, they will still spend the majority of their young adult life in university; however, unlike past Sims games, your Sims are not trapped on campus with no way to work or live a life outside of university. Sims can live wherever they want, have a job, and raise a family while going to school, so this balances things out. If the length of university is not ideal for your play style, we recommend turning aging off in the game options while your Sim is in university. That way, they don’t lose any time to climb a career ladder or pursue other life goals.
Of course, you will want to be taking 4 classes every term for maximum efficiency. Sims who don’t mind sacrificing their social life and plan to devote all their time to their studies should take a full course load every term.
Attending Classes
It’s important to actually attend class in order to get the most out of your university education. Missing class will hurt your grades. Sims in the area will autonomously try to get to class a little early. Sims who’ve arrived to class early will wait outside the building with the other early bird students. This can be a good time to get some last minute homework finished or to quickly finish the rest of that coffee and snack you purchased to-go at the cafe vendor.
While your Sim is inside the classroom rabbithole, they will have various options available to them by clicking on their portrait, much like the different work options for inactive careers. Click the class icon on the Sim’s portrait to see the various actions they can take in class. Sims can Actively Listen, Take Notes, Sleep in Class, or Chat with Friends. To get the most out of every class, make sure your Sim is taking notes or actively listening. I’m sure we don’t need to tell you that sleeping in class and chatting with friends are not good ways to improve your grades.
If you’re taking a full course load, it’s likely that your Sim will have more than one class in a day, or even back to back classes. Make sure to check the career panel often to keep track of your class schedule so you can budget your time for homework, finals, and self-care effectively.
Ideally, you will want your Sim to attend every single class with all of their homework completed and taking an active role in the class while they are there. This will ensure your Sim gets the most out of their classes and, in turn, gets the best grades at the end of term.
Every course your Sim takes has homework due before every class. When your Sim enrolls in university, they are automatically given a homework notebook in their personal inventory. Sims can complete homework for all their classes using this notebook. Homework takes some time to complete, but Sims with high enough Research & Debate skill complete homework faster.
Sims who stay on top of their homework and pay attention in class will get more out of attending classes and it will have a positive impact on their final grade. Always complete homework before every class and actively pay attention in class for maximum academic success.
In addition to homework that must be completed on a regular basis throughout the term, each class also has a final. Finals are very important and worth a large chunk of your grade. Skipping out on your finals will have a big negative impact on your final grade, so make sure you complete all of them.
Each class will have different requirements for its final. Some classes will require your Sim to write a term paper. Others have final exams and presentations. Look at your class schedule in the career panel to see what’s required of each class.
Exams take place during the last class of the term. If your Sim has done all their homework and attended all their classes, they’re likely to do well on their exam, but Sims can also study for a class using a course book purchased from the university kiosk, a computer, or research station to boost their chances of doing well on their exam.
Don’t miss your final exam! Failing to write the exam results in a big fat zero and will seriously hurt your final grade!
PSST! You can also cheat on your exam by selecting the option on your Sim’s portrait while they’re in the exam… but you would never do that… would you? Getting caught has serious consequences.
Term Papers
Term papers can be written on the computer under the University menu option. A Sim can write and submit a term paper for a class at any point during the term, so dedicated Sims might want to get these out of the way early.
Term papers take a long time to complete, but Sims with high enough Research & Debate skill complete term papers faster. The first draft of a term paper is usually poor quality. Your Sim can submit poor quality term papers, but f they want the best grade, they should spend some time editing their paper before they submit it.
Term papers can be edited until they are outstanding quality. You’ll receive a notification telling you that your term paper won’t benefit from any further editing once your Sim has increased its quality to outstanding. Scrolling over the term paper option in the computer’s menu will tell you the quality of the term paper.
When your Sim is satisfied with the quality of their paper, they can submit it using the computer.
PSST! You can also plagiarize your term papers by selecting the plagiarize option on the computer… but you would never do that… would you? Getting caught has serious consequences.
Presentations
Your Sim will receive a presentation board in their personal inventory at the start of term for any classes that have a presentation requirement as their final. Presentations function similar to term papers; your Sim will need to compile all of their material on the board, then refine the presentation board until it’s suitable to present in class.
To start, drag the presentation board out of your Sim’s inventory and into the world somewhere, then choose the Capture Information option on the board. Your Sim will spend some time compiling all their material for their presentation onto the board. When they’ve finished, they will have a poor quality presentation board. You can see the board’s quality by hovering over it.
Sims can improve the quality of their presentation by refining and organizing it, and asking other Sims for feedback on their presentation. They can also practice their presentation. Practicing presentations builds the Charisma skill. Once the board cannot be improved any further, you will receive a notification informing you that your Sim’s presentation board looks great and that continuing to fiddle with it won’t improve it any more.
When your Sim is satisfied with the quality of their presentation, they can go to class with the presentation board in their inventory and present it. Presentations do not take place during regular classes; your Sim must click on the class rabbithole and select the presentation option. Presentations can only be given during the day. Your Sim won’t be able to present in the middle of the night.
Final Grades & Starting a New Term
If your Sim has done all their homework, attended every class as an active participant, and completed all their finals with outstanding quality, they should have no trouble getting an A+ grade in every class. However, perfect grades don’t come easy. You’ll find that your Sim has little to no time for extracurricular activities, organizations, or socialising when they are taking 4 classes and trying to achieve an A+ grade in every single one of them. University is definitely a rewarding challenge in The Sims 4 , just like in the real world.
Since grades aren’t given out until the end of term, it’s up to your Sim to take a proactive approach to finding out how they’re doing in their classes. They can visit their professors during their office hours or email them on the computer to get an idea of how they’re performing in their classes and how they can improve.
Once all coursework has been submitted, your Sim will be free to enjoy themselves (for once) while their final grades are being processed. Once the final grades are in, you’ll receive a popup with all your final grades for each class, as well as your overall GPA.
From there, you can choose to enroll in another term right away, or take some time off before starting a new term. If your Sim has any scholarships, they must enroll in a new term immediately or they will lose their scholarships. Tuition costs for the new term will be handled at this point as well. Sims can pay with household funds or take out a loan to pay any tuition costs for the new term that scholarships don’t cover.
Your Sim will also be given the opportunity to make different housing arrangements at the start of each new term. They can choose to stay wherever they are currently living, or move somewhere else. This change does not happen right away. Your Sim will have about a day left in their old residence, which gives them an opportunity to pack up any personal items they may have purchased for their living space. A small “Packing Up” event will occur a couple hours before the move to remind your Sim to gather up their things, too.
As long as your Sim continues on the path to success they started in their first term, all their future terms are bound to result in perfect A+ grades across the board. Keep doing that homework, working on those finals, and paying attention in class!

Sims 4 University Guide – Everything You Need To Know
The Sims 4: Discover University introduces to the players the University of Britechester and Foxbury Institute. So what will it be? The University of Britechester focuses more on creative arts and is older and richer with history. Foxbury Institute is newer and features classes to aid in careers such as becoming a scientist or an astronaut.
Which Is Better Foxbury or Britechester University?
If you prefer to tinker, do rocket science, or program then Foxbury is just the right fit for you, but if you like the flashing lights of acting, being a detective or perhaps being a social media influencer then maybe the University of Britechester is better. Foxbury is directly related to science-related careers usually, Britechester is more for creative work like writing, painting, or acting. You can take up to 4 classes or fewer with electives to learn separate skills to graduate.
Degrees in The Sims 4 are not too hard to earn given you are never tired, always full, and need no one, which can be achieved through the reward store. However, there is plenty to do at university while you’re there which can make it quite fun like creating a Servo or doing keg stands. It’s also important to keep the “Academic” aspiration in mind when applying. Let us do a deep dive into what all goes into first getting there and then achieving maximum success.
Applying For College
When you are applying for college it is always wise to take out your phone or get on your computer and E-mail that former guidance counselor about scholarships. Eventually, they will get back to you with the scholarships you will most likely achieve. This does not mean you can’t get more, but, ultimately you will have no problem with the scholarships they recommend. After you apply for scholarships through your computer or phone you will receive your response in just a couple of days.
After receiving your response from your scholarships, you can apply for college. This is where you decide what job you’re going to want to pursue after college. Getting your skills increased in the particular subject area of study you’ll be doing will help with being accepted, like writing to be a writer. After that, you choose your degree and apply.
⨠Learn the many ways of becoming famous in the Sims 4 in our guide. â¨
Distinguished Degrees vs. Regular Degrees
Both universities offer the same degrees, however, they specialize in different areas. This is where distinguished degrees come in. Foxbury may be a school specializing in science and technology and therefore having distinguished degrees in those subjects, but it will always offer regular degrees in creative arts and humanities. The same goes for the University of Britechester, so it’s important to pick the correct university when deciding on your career path as a distinguished degree will be better in the long run.
Going to university from home is the cheapest option as you do not have to pay for housing and scholarships will eat up the cost of your classes. It is also the most efficient as your Sim will treat it as a job and go to it when it calls to them. Not only that but you’re familiar with your house and thus you know where everything is and you can customize it at any time you need.
UBrite Housing
Offers five different types of housing settings, one of which is free and that is your house of course and you just pay for the classes, the other four are paid for by term unless you decide to move off of campus and off your lot. They are:
- At Home: Free – However many people live in your household
- Off Campus: However much the cost of the house is you’re moving to + cost/term of classes
- Darkwing Hall: $558/term – 4 bedrooms – No gender restrictions
- Drake Hall: $326/term – 8 bedrooms – No gender restrictions
- Wyvern Hall: $312/term – 8 bedrooms – No gender restrictions – Best of Friends Household
Foxbury Housing
- At Home: Free – However many people are living in your household
- Off Campus: Cost of home + cost/term of classes
- Briny Tower: $95/term – 8 bedrooms – No gender restrictions
- Maritime Manor – $585/term – 4 bedrooms – No gender restrictions
- Tidal Tower – $293/term – 8 bedrooms – No gender restrictions
At-home or off-campus housing is certainly a good option as your Sim will treat university like a regular job and go to it when your classes call. You can customize your personal home when you feel the need to but you cannot customize the dorms when you move into on-campus housing. On-campus housing has the benefit of meeting new people and being closer to organizations and classes and just general immersion in the entire idea. Ultimately, it is entirely up to you with what you would like to do when the time comes to go to university and get a degree.
Getting Good Grades
If you take four classes, you will have a presentation, term paper, or likely both that can be pulled out of your inventory or completed on the computer. Your presentation can be completed by pulling it out of your inventory and placing it into the world. This will usually give it a starting condition of “poor” but then it’s time to refine and organize it until its condition is excellent. After that, you can give the presentation at any point between 8 A.M. – 4:30 P.M. by the end of the term.
Your term paper is written on a computer which can be found at the Ubrite Commons or Foxbury Commons or if you have one yourself. After you finish the paper you can go back and edit it to make it in much better condition before submitting it.
It’s important to also complete homework, which is stored in your inventory and looks like a composition notebook. Sims have a tendency to just put it down anywhere they like. You can buy additional homework notebooks from stands/kiosks around campus for one simoleon if you need to, I suggest buying three or four.
Studying is an important aspect of classes as well, using an Electromagnetic Research Archive Machine, or just a computer if you like. To get a good idea of how you’re doing, you can “E-mail Professors About Progress”. Then you will know exactly what to study for.
After School Activities
There are many after-school activities from which you can partake and even earn money. You can join an E-sports team or an outdoor sports team. To make some money on the side, you can tutor students for a few hours and earn 100 simoleons. Attending guest lectures is also an option and a goal for the “Academic” aspiration. Guest lectures can be found in buildings around the center statues of each university, but they provide no benefit to you.
Depending on the university you go to, you have a few different organizations you can choose from which are separate from clubs. If you join the University of Britechester, you can decide between
The Debate Guild
Ubrite spirit corps.
- Art Society
If you go with Foxbury Institute then you can choose between:
Bot Savants
Foxbury spirit squad, the brainiacs, organizations.
Organizations can be joined while in university, at a kiosk by checking for organization events, separate from a club you may be in until the end of your time in university. They are like a job in that you have to do certain tasks at your leisure and you will eventually get promoted. There is no penalty for failing to do a task by the next time you are needed to go to a meeting. If you cannot go to a meeting then do not fret, your progress and organization rank carries over into your next term. You can go through the organization as fast or slow as you like, it is entirely flexible.
The University of Britechester offers a variety of creative arts and humanities organizations that you can join based on your skill or what you are studying that would be beneficial to you. It’s important to note that to maintain a good grade, you have to strike a balance between class and time spent with the club. You can take to the stage and furiously debate ideas with The Debate Guild which would be especially helpful if you have a degree that moves towards needing the research and debate skill in a job.
I found that doing just the tasks required and only visiting a few events during my college degree was enough to get me to be a senior member. If I was completing an 8 class degree. The events do not get you much in terms of reputation unless you do specifically what is requested.
Debate Practice | Ubrite Commons | Tues & Wed: 4 P.M. – 8 P.M. |
Debate Guild Bar Night | The Local Bar | Thurs: 8 P.M. – 12 A.M. |
Debate Showdown | Ubrite Outdoor Quad | Sat: 8 A.M. – 2 P.M. |
There are only three ranks in each organization , each offering different cosmetics or items. As a New Member of The Debate Guild, you have access to:
- Organization T-Shirt
- Organization Poster
Once you get to the second rank of The Debate Guild which gives you the title of “Seasoned Member” you now have access to:
- Earning extra credit for your Communications, History, Language, Psychology, and Economics classes when participating in The Debate Guild events
At the third and final rank, you become a “Senior Member” and have now have admittance to use the Debate Guild jacket, the TY84 Gold Plus Research Archive Machine, and the ability to convince your professor to help with a class or raise your grade.
If you are loyal to your university and what it is about, then perhaps the Spirit Corps is for you! Represent with your fellow students and Darby the Dragon by meeting up at the bar and doing keg stands, or going to Foxbury and de-facing their center statue (it is a creative arts college). You can think of the Ubrite Spirit Corps or the Foxbury Spirit Squad as essentially cheerleaders, or very similar to a club in what they do or represent.
Britechester Game Day Party | Ubrite Outdoor Quad | Fri & Sat: 3 P.M. – 7 P.M. |
Spirit Corps Bar Night | The Local Bar | Sat: 10 P.M. – 2 A.M. |
Creativity Celebration | Ubrite Outdoor Quad | Sun: 3 P.M. – 9 P.M. |
No matter what organization you join, the first reward will always be the same, as will the name of the ranks. At “New Member” , you will receive:
Once you have completed all the tasks necessary for promotion to the second rank of “Seasoned Member” , you will receive:
- The ability to perform the Ubrite Greeting
Once you find your way to the top and become a “Senior Member” of the Spirit Corps, you will can get a new outfit as well as a new way to represent your university. You will receive:
- Darby the Dragon Costume
- Dragon Pong Table
If neither of those suits your fancy then perhaps you’d like to paint happy little paintings with your friends. The Art Society requests the least amount of your time from your university studies and is great if you’re studying to have a career in painting.
Figure Painting | Canal by Ubrite Commons | Mon & Thurs: 3 – 7 P.M. ; Sun: 10 A.M. – 2 P.M |
Art Society Bar Night | The Local Bar | Tues: 8 P.M. – 12 A.M. |
New Member Rewards:
Seasoned Member Rewards:
- Earn extra credit in Art History and Fine Art classes when participating in Art Society events
Senior Member Rewards:
- Bob Russ’ Happy Little Easel
- Creative skill gain is increased
Foxbury Institute Organizations
If creative arts isn’t your thing and instead you’d like to tinker with robots or go to space then perhaps you’d like to take a look at the Bot Savants, Brainiacs, or the Foxbury Spirit Squad in order to represent your university. The rewards are similar at the beginning for each organization but different towards the end.
Do you like making robots? Having a brush with death because you have no idea what you’re doing and electrocute yourself? Perhaps you just enjoy making Servo and adding one to your household. This is the correct organization for you! Their schedule is relatively flexible and spread out across the week.
Bot Savants Bar Night | The Local Bar | Mon: 8 P.M. – 12 A.M. |
Robot Building Meet-Up | Foxbury Commons | Tues & Thurs 7 P.M. – 11 P.M. |
Utili-Bot Contest | Foxbury Outdoor Quad | Sun: 12 P.M. – 6 P.M. |
The rewards are excellent for this organization given you have a hankering for robotics or to build a Servo that can provide a wide array of benefits for the player.
New Member:
Seasoned Member :
- Earn extra credit for Computer Science, Physics, and Villainy classes when participating in Bot Savant events.
Senior Member:
- Party-Bot Gold Edition
- Robotics Skill builds at a faster rate
- Upgrades for any robotics parts cost significantly less
Very similar to the Ubrite Spirit Corps, this organization embodies the university for everything that it is. If you want to represent your university to its fullest then join up with all the cheerleaders in the Spirit Squad and go yarnbomb Ubrite’s lame book statue!
Foxbury Spirit Squad Bar Night | Local Bar | Wed: 8 P.M. – 12 A.M. ; Sun 6 P.M. – 10 P.M. |
Foxbury Game Day Night | Outdoor Quad | Fri 3 P.M. – 7 P.M. |
School Spirit Day | Foxbury Institute | Sat 11 A.M. – 5 P.M. |
Seasoned Member:
- Able to perform the Foxbury Greeting when meeting Sims
- Foxbury’s Larry the Lobster Costume
- Pincers Pong!
This organization is for those Sims that want nothing more than to feed the brain more knowledge. There is nothing to stop them from learning as gaining and harvesting more knowledge is their only pursuit in life or university. The Brainiacs are exactly that: brainiacs.
- Able to earn extra credit in every class regardless of what it is.
Senior Member :
- Brainiacs Plaque
- Mental Skills are gained at a much faster rate
The Secret Society
The Secret Society identifies with neither university specifically, but rather just itself and university students that perform the correct ritual to be summoned amongst the ranks. To be accepted into the ranks of The Secret Society, there are certain things you must offer to your university’s statue for good grades. Then go back to your dorm and fall asleep. After you’ve fallen asleep you’ll be awoken by members of the society to be accepted. Those certain things to offer are:
- Excellent quality food items
- Pristine gardening harvestables
- Rare crystals/metals
The Secret Society is also known as the “Order of Enchantment” and tasks may include such things as making offerings at the statue, participating in events for the Order, or tending to the sprite’s garden. There are ranks for the Order of Enchantment and that includes:
- Order Robes
- Ability to perform sprite attacks on other Sims
- Gain ability to summon powerful sprites on yourself
The Order of Enchantment’s meet-up place is across from the local bar at Gibb’s Hill in the Ruins where you may find an interesting looking area.
Graduation in Sims 4
If it is your first time getting a degree then you will need to complete 12 classes or three terms if you’re taking 4 classes a term to graduate. Upon graduation, you will receive your final grade and determination on whether or not you passed with honors or if you failed. Not only that but you will be kicked out of your organization as that is only allowed for university members. Graduation takes place the following day around noon when it is announced to you.
You can choose to go to graduation or not, it does not matter and is entirely up to you. Either way, if you go, you will enter into a building (and disappear) and come out with several members and toss your caps in the air. Upon graduation, you will receive a graduation picture of yourself, your graduation certificate to hang on the wall, and a lot of incentives for any job that your degree was intended for. You will receive more vacation days more often and a massive pay raise. Now doesn’t that sound awesome!

He's going for a distinguished degree in fine arts and for the entire semester I only had him do 50% of his homework every night.
Method 1 - Make sure children are in a good mood. Your child and teen Sims have homework to do every single day, from Monday to Friday. It's no different in The Sims 4, but being a rather realistic life simulation game, you can expect that. The Sims 4 Discover University Expansion Pack allows you to pack your Sims off to university to get a degree. However, university in The Sims 4 is no picnic. If you want your Sim to get the highest grades, then prepare for a long, hard slog.
Players everywhere would like to know if there's a cheat â or several â to make doing homework easier in The Sims 4: Discovery University expansion pack. If such cheats existed, they'd certainly make the process of sending your adult sims to higher learning a lot sim-pler. Well, we have good news! They do exist!
Faster Homework (University Edition) by Scarlet's Mods. As the name suggests, this mod allows your Sims studying at college to do homework faster. While homework normally takes 150 Sim minutes to complete, this mod allows them to complete it in 10, 25 or 50 minutes. It's truly a huge time saver.
Imjustcasey. â˘. Discover University and I have a love-hate relationship. This is how I get my sims through: Enroll on a Friday or Saturday, so you have non school days to get a jump on the first round of homework. Only take 3 classes a semester so that you have enough time for everything.

Have an adult sim help them. Sims can finish their homework much faster if a grown-up helps them. To do so, have them sit somewhere and start doing their homework. Then, take control of any other adult sim in the household. Click on the sim that is doing their homework and choose the option "Help with homework".
The University expansion in The Sims 4 introduces a different ball game. With the pursuit of a degree, Sims is saddled with daily homework duties, even before their first class commences. To stay atop this academic ladder and eye that A-plus grade: The university homework can be accessed via a black-and-white book in the Sim's inventory.
I never have my sims do the homework in college. They get straight As. The thing that matters the most is that you have your sims get to class on time, basically early. XD. But it's not hard at all to get A's. I've done it with up to 4 sims at once. You just go to class on time (you can go late at least a couple times a semester), do the homework and class work, and raise the skill associated with the class.
This is not a university specific mod but here you can find Scarlet's mod that improves all homeworks. The mod is called "FasterHomework". I use MCCC for that, I can set career and uni progress, homework etc to be faster. I always set the career progress faster but I didn't know you could set homework faster!
