1.1 Inserting a Cover Page
A dissertation usually starts with a cover or title page. this page gives the first impression of the dissertation and serves to inform and captivate the reader. your university usually supplies the specific format and wording that is required for your cover page. be sure to constantly check in with your supervisor and department..

How to insert a cover page from the gallery, step 1: click on the insert tab on the ribbon. under the pages group, select cover page.
Step 2: Choose a cover page layout from the gallery of options
Step 3: Edit the cover page. You can replace the sample text with your own text by placing your cursor on the sample text and typing the new information. To remove a section of sample text, right click on the text, select Remove Content Control from the shortcut menu. To remove a design element, select the element and press Delete on your keyboard.

Once the cover page is inserted into your document, you can click on the Design tab to change the colours and fonts and add a watermark, page colour and a page border if necessary. We will now explore the second way in which you can insert a cover page.
You can create a custom cover page that can be reused in other Word documents.
Step 1: Open a blank document and create your cover page, including images if necessary.
Step 2: Next, select all the text and images that should be included in your cover page.
Step 3: Now click on the Insert tab in the ribbon. Under the Pages group, select Cover Page and click on Save Selection to Cover Page Gallery.
Step 4: The Create New Building Block dialog box will appear. Type a unique name for your custom cover page and click on OK. Your custom cover page will now appear in the Cover Page Gallery.
