The course is structured as a comprehensive, job-ready program, equipping learners with skills and knowledge applicable across various industries and sectors.

This Business Administration level 3 course comprises eight detailed modules, with learner progress evaluated through tutor-marked assignments and activities. Why study Level 3 business admininistration online?

A vital benefit of this Level 3 Business Administration course is its online delivery. This format provides accessible, flexible learning, allowing students to enhance their skills without sacrificing their current commitments. The distance learning approach, supported at every stage, caters to online and paper-based preferences.

Completing this diploma opens pathways to further studies in related fields or higher-level courses. It also provides a foundation for specialized business administration courses like event management or small holding management. This diploma is not just a learning journey but a step towards broadening career opportunities and exploring new professional avenues.

This Business Administration Diploma course is designed to provide a foundation from which you can develop expertise in critical areas such as business communication, administration, presentations and presenting business data accurately and informally.

Although we communicate with people daily via email, text, and phone conversation, this is often on a one-to-one basis. A business administrator is a person who coordinates larger volumes of communication between groups of people – and this takes skill and knowledge.

Required knowledge

The good news is that no prior learning knowledge or experience is essential to take this Business Administration Level 3 Diploma, meaning the programme is openly available to anyone wishing to study this fascinating subject or further their career in this area.

The Certificate of Achievement from Quality Licence Scheme is gained by successfully completing a series of assignments. Your personal tutor will review, mark and provide you with feedback on your work.

Certification

At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement from Quality Licence Scheme and a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the components the learner has completed as part of the course).

The course has been endorsed under the Quality Licence Scheme. This means that NCC Home Learning has undergone an external quality check to ensure that the organisation and the courses it offers, meet defined quality criteria. The completion of this course alone does not lead to a regulated qualification* but may be used as evidence of knowledge and skills gained. The Learner Unit Summary may be used as evidence towards Recognition of Prior Learning if you wish to progress your studies in this subject. To this end the learning outcomes of the course have been benchmarked at  QLS  Level 3  against level descriptors published by Ofqual, to indicate the depth of study and level of demand/complexity involved in successful completion by the learner.

The Quality Licence Scheme is part of the Skills and Education Group, a charitable organisation that unites education and skills-orientated organisations that share similar values and objectives. With more than 100 years of collective experience, the Skills and Education Group’s strategic partnerships create opportunities to inform, influence and represent the wider education and skills sector.

The Skills and Education Group’s knowledge and experience of working within the awarding sector enables them to work with training providers, through the Quality Licence Scheme, to help them develop high-quality courses and/or training programmes for the non-regulated market.

NCC originally stood for the National Consortium of FE (Further Education) Colleges. This brought together the FE Colleges to achieve the best provision. Regular national meetings were attended by both Colleges and Government agencies who funded them. This was very helpful to them both to best deliver training to their students.

For more than 25 years NCC has supplied FE Colleges with learning materials as well as student marketing.

NCC now specialise in online training of a very high quality to students both self-funded, paid for by schools, employers and training providers.

Distance learning is the most flexible and convenient approach to studying. There is no need for you to attend college and you can study anytime, anyplace, anywhere that fits in with your lifestyle. Distance learning programmes are ideal for people who may have a job, family commitments, or any other commitment that won’t allow them time off to study.

Both our online and paper courses are completed via an online learning portal (LMS) which you can access after you receive your login details by email. Please ensure that you check your junk email if you do not receive your login details within 48 hours.

All learners will submit their assignments, receive feedback and correspond with their tutor directly through the LMS. If you require help from our support team, then simply email [email protected] .

If you opt for the online course, you will not receive any course materials through the post. Everything is available via the LMS.

If you opt for the paper version, you are simply paying for a study book to be printed and posted to your home, or place of work. You will use this book as a reference guide, but you will still be required to upload your assignments and correspond with your tutor via the LMS.

If you are unable to access our online LMS, we do have alternative options available, so please email [email protected] in order to request further support.

We recommend that you choose a course that will interest you and help you to achieve your ambitions. If you would like some advice, or further information, contact us here or dial 0333 3445 690 .

To purchase a course, simply click on the ‘Buy now’ button against your chosen course and follow the on screen instructions. Alternatively if you would prefer to purchase the course over the phone, call 0333 3445 690 and speak to one of our expert course advisors.

The cost largely depends on the type and size of the course. The course cost is determined by the expenses associated with its provision, taking into consideration the course's size and complexity, development costs, the presence of a study materials, and the level of tutor support required. Some courses also necessitate additional in-person assessments by assessors, which incur additional expenses and consequently affect the course's cost.

All prices are clearly stated on the course description page and will always be displayed prior to you committing to purchase a course.

Please note that there may be additional fees required should your course require an external invigilated assessment, such as A Levels, ICB qualifications etc. To clarify, please speak to a course advisor.

Once you've chosen your course, you have two options for enrolment:

  • You can purchase the course online by clicking the "Buy now" button, which will enrol you automatically.
  • Alternatively, you can call our helpline at 0333 3445 690 , and our expert course advisors will assist you in signing up for the course and arrange for the delivery of any requested additional learning materials to your address.

We do not require you to complete a credit check to sign up for monthly payments.

We guarantee that you will receive any course materials ordered within 5 working days of registering, but for many of our courses it may take no more than 48 hours.

The course materials are always sent to you via a tracked courier service, to ensure that you receive your study book within our stated period.

All the relevant information required to complete your course is available via the LMS. Additional research via the internet is encouraged, depending on the level you are working at, to bolster knowledge of the subject area.

There is no requirement to purchase any additional materials.

You will have access to a dedicated personal tutor whom you can contact through the Learning Management System (LMS) for assistance and guidance on any course-related matters. Your tutor will only initiate contact in response to your messages. If you encounter any difficulties reaching your tutor, please don't hesitate to email us at [email protected]

Many courses require you to submit work to your tutor during the period of study, and your tutor will assess your work and provide feedback to you within 10 working days. Your tutor is available to you as much as you need them.

Please note that the course includes tutor support for a duration of 12 months. If you require additional time, please inform us, and we will make every effort to provide you with an option for a paid extension, if feasible, to assist you in completing your course.

Please be aware that our tutors are actively assisting multiple learners, and to ensure they are not inundated with excessive workloads, we have implemented a policy limiting learners to submitting a maximum of three units of work for evaluation at any given time. We recommend that you upload your completed units as you finish them. This way, you can benefit from your tutor's feedback to enhance your future assignment submissions.

Your work will be marked and feedback returned to you within 10 working days after submission. This is because our tutors are required to provide detailed, considered feedback to our learners that may take a while to formulate. We find that by working this way, our learners actually complete their course in less time, as they rarely need to submit an assignment more than twice.

Whilst it is possible to submit multiple assignments at the same time, we advise that our learners submit only one at a time. We want our learners to develop as they progress through their course, and find this is best achieved when a student embarks on a new module having taken into account tutor feedback from the previous submission.

Kindly note that our tutors are currently supporting multiple learners simultaneously. In order to maintain a balanced workload for them, we have established a policy that restricts learners to submitting a maximum of three units of work for evaluation at any given time.

Depending on the course you have chosen, and the amount of time you can commit, it could take from 6 weeks to 12 months to complete your course. Your end of support date is when you need to have your course copmpleted by in order to be able to be certificated, this is usually 12 months from purchase.

The duration of the course is largely down to you. The beauty of home learning is that it allows you complete flexibility to fit your studies around your lifestyle and other commitments. You can dedicate as much, or as little, time as you want to your studies - no one will be chasing you for your work or asking why you haven’t submitted an assignment.

We do strongly recommend, though, that before you purchase a course you assess your ability to commit the necessary time to completing the course in a timeframe that will not leave you losing your motivation.

All of our courses are accredited, so you need to show that you have acquired the knowledge to pass the course – this may involve sitting an examination, but it depends on the course you have chosen.

Some courses require you to be continually assessed throughout the course, while others may require an end of course exam or assignment (which may be completed at home) to be submitted to your tutor.

Certain types of qualifications, A-levels and GCSEs for example, do require you to sit invigilated exams at a registered test centre. You will need to organise and pay for the examinations yourself, however full details of what you need to do will be available from the centre who are delivering the qualification.

If in doubt, please email [email protected] , NCC can then discuss or put you in touch directly with the course provider.

All of our courses are accredited and you will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the course.

For more information about this please see the section of the website that details how awarding bodies work and what the different types of qualifications are: https://www.ncchomelearning.co.uk/awarding-organisations

Yes, you can take as many courses as your time allows, but we would recommend that you clearly evaluate how much time you can commit to your courses of study.

The good news is that if your circumstances change you can always take a limited break and come back to your studies to save your paid for support.

If you decide to enrol on more than one course at the same time, speak to our enquiries team for any bundle deals or offers.

Certainly, in most instances, there are no geographical constraints on where you can undertake your studies. However, it's important to note that specific courses may be subject to geographical limitations imposed by the Awarding Organisation, and these restrictions will be clearly stated in the course description.

You just need to be aware that all tutors are based in the UK and work may need to be submitted to them via post, although in most cases e-mail can be used.

Where the course requires that you sit an invigilated exam at a test centre, there are many exam centres outside of the UK. However, we would advise that you check with us before purchasing one of these courses if you want to study from abroad.

If, after receiving the course, you decide it isn’t the right course for you, you may return the materials within 14 days, provided you have not yet submitted any coursework for evaluation. Please note that you will be responsible for covering the return shipping costs. We will refund your payment, minus a non-refundable deposit of £29. Additionally, you have the option to select an alternative course that better matches your goals and aspirations.

For any help on cancelling your course please email [email protected] , we will only deal with cancellation enquiries via email.

“Brilliant support”

Brilliant feedback and support. Don't have to wait long at all for a reply when I need help, and work is marked virtually the same day.

Kate Watkins, 16 May 2016

“Really enjoyed my course!”

I have really enjoyed my course, I have learnt a lot and enjoyed doing my assignments and getting feedback. I would recommend this course to anyone in administration that wants to learn more as the tutors give you all the support you need and are available to talk to. It has filled me with a great sense of achievement knowing that I have down my best. I possibly will be undertaking another course using this site, I am just waiting for the right one to come along. I am wanting to look at doing a basic Marketing course as I do work for that department being the Admin assistant. Thank you for all your help throughout this year.

Lois Williams, 10 May 2016

“Excellent”

Tutor (Helen O'Byrne) was extremely helpful and efficient at providing feedback. Whole process was very enjoyable and easy.

Carly Lancaster, 30 March 2016

“Would throughly recommend!”

Really helpful tutors, went through a family bereavement and tutors were very understanding in regards to my coursework, can't fault them. Always helpful in their feedback. Would throughly recommend to anyone looking to earn an extra qualification! 5 stars for a reason.

Alice Cook, 14 March 2016

“Enjoyed learning with NCC”

I just want to thank to my tutor for her help, support and constructive feedback. I enjoyed learning with NCC.

Sarolta Benes, 3 February 2016

“Looking forward to the next one!”

My tutor was a great help throughout all of this. She was on hand to answer questions I had at the start of the course and was efficient with her feedback. I really enjoyed this course and am looking forward to the next one!

Katie Robinson, 3 February 2016

“Business administration Diploma”

Was an interesting course. There was a lot of questions that were repeated but was put in a slightly different way word wise. The feed back came back quite quickly. This is the second course I have done with NCC and I find them really trustworthy

Danielle, 22 December 2015

“Ray was a great tutor”

I would like to thank Mr Rew for all his support throughout my units, He continually gave me regular and fast feedback, which enabled me to get on with my units and complete the course in a much shorter time, which is always my preference when I am doing courses.

Alison Bevan, 3 September 2015

“Interesting and informative”

I enjoyed the course and found it interesting and informative. Also, tutor Ray Rew provided valuable guidance and support throughout.

Sara Thompson, 12 November 2014

“Prompt and efficient - very helpful”

I thought that the office staff at NCC Resources were extremely helpful. All of my queries were answered promptly and efficiently. I felt that I was supported throughout my course. My modules were marked very quickly, and the tutor gave useful feedback. Maybe the course handbook could be a little more visually appealing (including photos etc.) and perhaps some of the questions could have more evaluation, for example asking students to evaluate how effective their organisation is in certain areas.

Sarah Bartel, 24 October 2014

“A great distance learning provider”

By completing modules I was able to show my understanding of the subject and create a portfolio that I can keep to prove my knowledge. NCC is a great Distance Learning Provider, excellent service and fantastic value for money. I have recommended you to my colleagues, and will definitely study again.

Danielle Beaumont, 11 August 2014

“Good”

There were times this particular course was frustrating as it appeared to ask the same questions a few times - only worded slightly differently, so if you answered a question thoroughly you found that you were repeating yourself. There may be method in this type of questioning but as an experienced office person I personally found it a little annoying. Other than that small gripe the customer service and tutor support was excellent. This is the second course I have entered into through NCC (previously HR Diploma Level 3) and I am sure I will do more in the future. I am looking forward to receiving my certificate in due course.

Do I have to sit an exam?

No, there are no exams for this Level 3 Business Administration Course. Everything is assessed through coursework and assignments which you can submit at anytime within the enrolment term.

Am I assigned a tutor for this course?

You are! Once you have enrolled then you will have an assigned tutor, this person is the one who will be marking your work, providing feedback, and passing your work. If you need to speak to your tutor at any time throughout your enrolment then you can message them via the campus and they will reply within 24 hours of our working hours.

Can I speak to someone before I enrol?

Of course! We have course advisors and a customer service team in the office Monday to Friday 9am until 5pm who will be happy to help and answer any questions that you may have. You can call us on 0800 772 0887, email us at [email protected] or we even have a live chat facility.

Do I need to buy anything else for this Level 3 Business Administration Course course?

Everything that you will need will be provided to you when you enrol, you will also need to complete some of your own research too. Buying text books and other resources can become costly so we don’t ask you to or recommend buying anything, there is lots of free and very useful information online!

How long do I have to study?

The enrolment term is 12 months, however, as long as you complete all of the written assignments and practical tasks (if applicable) then you can complete the course sooner if you wish. If you need any additional time after the 12 months then you can also extend which costs £60 per month and you can do this as many times as needed.

What are the payment options?

There are various payment options for this Level 3 Business Administration Course course. The first option will be for you to purchase the course and pay in full upon enrolment. The second option is the pay monthly option, this is completely interest free and splits the cost into 12 monthly payments. Finally, we can send an invoice with 30 days payment terms if your employer will be funding the cost of the course – if you would like this option, then please ask your employer to get in contact with us so we can provide them with the details we will need.

Do you offer any funding for the course?

Unfortunately we don’t offer any free or funded courses but you can split the cost into 12 monthly payments which is completely interest free.

How do I log in and access my course?

Once you have enrolled then you have access to the campus right away to get started on your course. You can log in by going to our website and clicking ‘Log in’ at the top right hand side of the page. Your username is the email address that you used to enrol and your password is the one you created at the checkout when enrolling.

How do I see my course material/resources?

Everything that you will need for your Level 3 Business Administration Course course will be accessible on our online campus. You can select the online and paper versions of most of our courses too, if you select this option then there will be an additional £35 cost, this covers the cost of us printing out a full course pack in a ring binder folder and sending out via Royal Mail 1 st Class, Tracked & Signed delivery.

When will I receive my certificate?

Once you have completed and passed all units and your course is paid in full (either paid in full upon enrolment or if paying monthly then the remaining balance paid or monthly payments complete), then we can request your certificate from the Awarding Body. Certificates take 6-12 weeks to arrive with us, and once we receive them, we will then contact you to confirm the address to post them. Certificates are sent via Royal Mail 1 st Class, Tracked & Signed delivery.

What happens if I fail an assignment?

If you fail an assignment, then please do not worry! You can resubmit your assignment as many times as needed until you pass. Each time you submit an assignment then your tutor will mark it and provide feedback, you can then make the amendments and resubmit and have the new version marked again.

How long does it take to mark my work?

We have a marking timescale of 5 working days from the submission, your tutor will mark your work and provide feedback with if you need to make any amendments to enable you to pass. Please note, we do ask that learners don’t upload more than one submission at a time as this will delay the marking not just for yourself but for other learners too.

Do I have to attend or view any live/virtual lessons?

You don’t, everything is in written, text, image and diagram format. You will have access to the campus 24/7 to be able to log in and complete your work. You won’t need to view any videos or audio lessons.

What device can I/shall I use?

As you will have assignments to write and type up for submission then we would recommend using a computer or laptop for this as you will need to use a software such as Microsoft Word or Google Docs to type these. You may also be able to use an iPad/tablet for this. You can use a smartphone if you wish but you may find it difficult and it would probably be easier on a larger screen/device.

How do I complete my assignments?

Once you have enrolled and accessed the campus you will see your assignment tasks and criteria of what needs to be covered in each assignment.

Common Questions

Which training providers will be able to deliver it.

To be able to deliver an apprenticeship a provider must be registered on the apprenticeship provider and assessment register (APAR).

If you are looking to become a provider, you can find more information here .

Want to find a training provider? Find a centre .

How is it assessed?

All apprenticeships are required to have an end-point assessment that is carried out by an independent body. Apprentices must pass the end-point assessment in order to achieve their apprenticeship and receive their certificate.

Assessment method 1: Knowledge Test - a multi-choice test to last a maximum of 60 minutes which includes 50 equally weighted multi-choice questions with four possible answers. The Knowledge test typically needs to be passed before the apprentice progresses to the Portfolio-based Interview and Project Presentation.

Assessment method 2: Portfolio-based Interview - The apprentice is required to prepare a portfolio of evidence during the on-programme phase of their apprenticeship, which showcases their best work. The interview which lasts 30-45 minutes, assesses understanding and learning shown in the Portfolio; the Portfolio is not directly assessed.

Assessment method 3: Project Presentation - The apprentice is required to prepare and deliver a presentation (followed by questions and answers) on a project they have completed or a process they have improved. The project is submitted to the EPAO who provides a question to answer in the presentation. This assessment method will typically last 30 minutes (the presentation lasts 10-15 minutes, with a further 10-15 minutes for a Q&A session).

How is the apprenticeship quality assured?

The Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) regulates the quality of apprenticeships. The IfATE’s role is also to advise on setting funding caps, and approve apprenticeship standards and assessment plans.

Is this apprenticeship certificated?

Yes – apprentices that successfully complete all parts of the Apprenticeship will receive a full apprenticeship certificate. This will be in addition to any qualifications that are taken as part of the apprenticeship.

If placement or practical required, when?

Learners need to be in a suitable work environment in order to apply the principles of Business Adminstration and demonstrate competencies. Vocational qualifications (certification only) administration (business professional) level 3 diploma - 03963, withdrawal of administration (business professional) suite.

Following a review we have decided to withdraw the Business Administration qualifications. The final date for entries will be 31/12/2023 . Please refer to the subject update below for last certification dates and further information.

Adapted assessment (2021/22)

During 2021/22 adaptations to assessments were available to support candidates and assessors while public health restrictions were in place. As those restrictions are no longer in place, those adaptations are no longer necessary. In 2022/23 (and beyond) evidence produced for assessments must be in line with the requirements and guidance set out in the centre handbook and units.

Withdrawal of Text Processing units

Following the withdrawal of the Text Processing units in 2017, learners taking Administration (Business Professional) will still be able to use any prior achievement of Text Processing units for certification.

This qualification recognises learners' understanding of complex administrative functions and activities. It accredits learners' abilities to carry out a comprehensive range of non-routine administrative tasks in a senior or supervisory role and has been designed to accredit their achievements in a modern, practical way that is relevant to the work context. The qualification is flexible, allowing learners to choose individual units that best fit their needs and level of achievement.

  • Flexible structure enabling centres and learners to choose the units most relevant to them.
  • Further units may be added later as a progression route to Level 4 qualifications.
  • Modern, flexible assessments.
  • Mandatory units covering essential skills with a wide range of optional units.
