As a promising emerging technology, Web3.0 has become the focus of more and more manufacturers and researchers. Web3.0 is an integration of network readability, writability, and authenticity. It is not only a new Internet architecture that integrates multiple rising technologies based on decentralization, but also an Internet infrastructure owned and trusted by each individual users. It reshapes the relationship between users and applications, by storing data on the network, rather than on specific servers owned by large service providers, which means that anyone can use this data without creating access credentials or obtaining permission from those monopolistic providers. This vision paper will first review the way the current network services work, then introduce some key technologies closely related to Web3.0, and finally point out the future research directions and potential opportunities, which are expected to give researchers a better understanding of Web3.0.

The Internet, in its embryonic form, emerged as a government research project designed to facilitate communication between researchers and scientists. Ever since then, the Internet has progressed tremendously from what we understand as an Internet where the functionality is to simply ‘read’, to the Internet where people can read, write, interact with other users, etc. The concept of life without the Internet is now inconceivable. At its current juncture, the Internet has permeated every facet of human existence, significantly impacting the world around us. Now, web 3.0 is the next step in the evolution of the Internet, emphasizing a decentralized Internet, ownership and advanced technologies. It is a paradigm shift for the internet that is defined by a collection of decentralized protocols and networks run by network participants worldwide. The decentralized nature of Web 3.0 will enable the creation of decentralized apps for finance, arts and collectables, gaming, and technology. Web 3.0 will provide users with greater data ownership, control, and privacy. It will be more secure, and scalable, and offer better privacy for users. It is also believed that Web 3.0 will create an ecosystem for users, by users, and of users. However, there are legal issues such as data autonomy, privacy, and protection, among others that need to be addressed. This article aims to demystify the emerging paradigm known as Web3—a new era of the Internet—and shed light on its relevance and the potential legal challenges it presents. Web3 is poised to reshape our digital landscape, and understanding its implications is vital as we navigate the ever-evolving intersection of technology and the law.

Title: security, privacy, and decentralization in web3.
Abstract: Much of the recent excitement around decentralized finance (DeFi) comes from hopes that DeFi can be a secure, private, less centralized alternative to traditional finance systems. However, people moving to DeFi sites in hopes of improving their security and privacy may end up with less of both as recent attacks have demonstrated. In this work, we improve the understanding of DeFi by conducting the first Web measurements of the security, privacy, and decentralization properties of popular DeFi front ends. We find that DeFi applications -- or dapps -- suffer from the same security and privacy risks that frequent other parts of the Web but those risks are greatly exacerbated considering the money that is involved in DeFi. Our results show that a common tracker can observe user behavior on over 56% of websites we analyzed and many trackers on DeFi sites can trivially link a user's Ethereum address with PII (e.g., user name or demographic information), or phish users by initiating fake Ethereum transactions. Lastly, we establish that despite claims to the opposite, because of companies like Amazon and Cloudflare operating significant Web infrastructure, DeFi as a whole is considerably less decentralized than previously believed.

The aim of this paper, then, is to gauge the merits of such a decentralized manifestation of the internet as Web 3.0 using social, economic, and cultural lenses. Keywords: Web 3.0, Web3, blockchain, cryptocurrency, NFT, non-fungible token, defi, finance, crypto
Although Web3 has garnered increased public interest, a clear definition remains elusive. Analyzing and understanding popular Web3 projects could yield insights into Web3 and its ecosystem. In this paper, we endeavor to address two research questions. RQ1: What are the categories of Web3 projects? RQ2: What is the popularity of Web3 projects?
The motivation behind this review paper is to provide a comprehensive overview of the Web3 ecosystem, its current state, potential opportunities and challenges, and future perspectives. The primary objective is to analyze the recent advancements in Web3 and explore their implications for various industries and sectors.
We operationalized Web3.0 as an umbrella term for online systems that center around decentralization. Because of the exponential growth of blockchain technologies, the chosen scope would be more thoroughly discussed in recent publications. As a result, we focused our research on Web3.0 from 2003 to 2022.
Web 3.0 utilizes centralized, decentralized, or distributed networks to form a communication network, and third parties have to request data usage permission because data belongs to users. In conclusion, Web 3.0 shows better compatibility with the current Web architecture than that of Web3.
This paper examines existing Web3.0 research published between 2003 and 2022. We uncover seven research themes that have been featured in previous research, as well as the key phrases associated with each theme, using a topic modeling procedure called Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA). We emphasize the interaction of research themes that contribute to the understanding of a variety of ...
To address these challenges, this review paper provides a comprehensive analysis of Web3, including its key advancements and implications, as well as an overview of its major applications in ...
Herein, this paper presents a comprehensive survey of Web 3.0, with a focus on current technologies, challenges, opportunities, and outlook. This article first introduces a brief overview of the history of World Wide Web as well as several differences among Web 1.0, Web 2.0, Web 3.0, and Web3.
These papers offer extensive research findings and perspectives on Web3, aiding in the identification of key factors associated with Web3 and providing valuable support for our analysis.

This vision paper will first review the way the current network services work, then introduce some key technologies closely related to Web3.0, and finally point out the future research directions and potential opportunities, which are expected to give researchers a better understanding of Web3.0.
Abstract In this article, we survey current conceptions of Web 3.0 and describe ways in which Web 3.0 differs from Web 2.0. Specifically, Web 3.0 is built on blockchain technology, allows for increased peer-to-peer interactions without intermediaries, enables individuals and businesses access to networks of users with much lower cost, and stands as a rebuke to large companies' centralized ...
In this paper, we provide an overview of Web3 technologies and their implications for education and research.
Web 3.0 has brought a vision of a decentralized internet where the user owns their own data and uses the web with no central body governing the space, thus promoting the growth and development of dapps. These dapps are being built on top of blockchain technologies and supported by the crypto-economic networks.
In this paper, we discuss the aspects of Web3.0 that should be integrated with the digital economy to better find the entry point to solve the problems by examining the latest advances of Web3.0 in machine learning, finance, and data management.
This article first introduces a brief overview of the history of World Wide Web as well as several differences among Web 1.0, Web 2.0, Web 3.0, and Web3. Then, some technical implementations of ...

This paper also discusses the relationship between the Metaverse and Web3, as well as the differences and similarities between Web 3.0 and Web3. Inspired by the Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory, we further conduct a novel hierarchy of needs theory within Web3. Finally, several worthwhile future research directions of Web3 are discussed.
The current web 2.0 is about connecting people. In which the social media platforms were invented, and the concentration of development was focused on the application layer. There are different approaches to think about web 3.0, some; would say the future is when we have a semantic web others would argue that the future is the virtual web. In this paper, we will talk about another direction to ...
